One Flower Wednesday

January saw me finally getting the 2nd jelly roll out & preparing the rest of the hexagons for my vignette hexagon quilt.

Here they all are. I've managed to sew 7 & most of the 8th one together so far on the last 2 Tuesday nights. All i have left now is to embroider the stepping stones.

I'm sure the goodies that arrived last week were put on a slow boat but at least they arrived & with no hassle with the Post Office. :) First to arrive was a parcel from Shell.

Shell sent me some gorgeous fabric, yummy raspberries in chocolate(mmmm) & a very cute bunny brooch. Thankyou Shell i love it all. Next to arrive was my Jim Shore ornament

Love it. :) The last ornament arrived also in the ornament swap i participated in last year.

Hand crocheted for me. :)

New family member

Yesterday we went on a trip towards the Gold Coast to get our new family member. Meet Bella the Bengal kitten. She is about 3 months old.

Now that Christmas is past & all gifts have been opened i can show what i sent to my partners.

I sent this runner to Pat in the Advent swap,

I'd seen this book around & looked to see if the Book Depository had it. It arrived before Christmas.

Before Christmas i'd seen on a blog or 2 mention of Jim Shore ornaments. I hadn't heard of him before so i had a quick look but wasn't that interested until another blog mentioned buying some from eBay. Well i just had to look didn't i? I bought 2 but one is coming from the USA. This one arrived before Christmas but due to our useless posties it wasn't left(they left a card in my mailbox) & i had to wait until the 28th to pick it up. The same day i arrived back home after having to travel into Ipswich to get the parcel i found another card to get another parcel. Still can't figure why the postie couldn't leave it either. I go in on Friday to Ipswich to get it only to discover they had taken a holiday especially just for Australia Post. I was so angry. Just as well they were shut other wise they'd have gotten another angry phone call.

I love cardinals. Such a gorgeous red colour. Such a shame i didn't get to hang it last year as it would look great on my black tree.

Gifts from swaps

I was up early yesterday morning & trying to be very quiet. As i was removing my parcels from under the tree i disturbed my son who was asleep on the lounge. I was so hoping for half an hours peace & quiet but no as soon as he started talking everyone else had to be up. In the excitement of gift giving i forgot to take photo's of my parcels all so nicely wrapped. :(

My last gift from Pat in the Advent swap Fee ran. Pat made me this gorgeous sewing bag & inside was another wrapped parcel containing these 4 beautiful embroidered coasters, catz pattern, Ferroro Rocher choccies, mallow pole, candy cane & bon bon, Thanks Pat. Love all the wonderful gifts that i've received over the last 25 days. Next parcel was from Melody.

Melody sent to me in our 6 parcel swap & this is what i found in my parcel. A gorgeous candle mat, beautiful pincushion & scissor fob all made by Melody. Thanks you so much Melody. Next parcel i opened was my SSCS parcel.

Odette sent me these gifts from Chile: a beautiful table runner, embroidered bag, shopping bag which is folded up (looks like a needlecase), fabric square & wooden buttons. Thankyou Chookyblue for running the swap. I've been very spoilt with all my wonderful gifts. Thankyou once again.

After much thought & research i decided to buy myself a Kindle. That could be a bad thing as i've discovered so many more novels on the Amish than i knew about :) lol Not to mention other types of novels i've been reading but have been unsuccessful in tracing more of the authors books.

Now to the next 4 Advent gifts. The last before before we get to open the main gift. :)

I love this pattern.

I found these patterns of Fee's in a magazine. Love them too.

These little cuties were in a Homespun mag. I put homegrown lavender in it. lastly i made 2 of these little circle baskets. The pattern is on a blog somewhere. I put my new circle cutter to good use on them. :)

Day 13 i unwrapped my gift to find a fat 1/4 of Christmas fabric, a pot holder & a candy cane

day 14, a ham bag which i'll need this coming weekend, a gorgeous house wind chime & mini bon bon

Day15 i found another pretty potholder. Pat must have been reading my mind again as i'm in need of new ones. :) A lovely fat 1/4 & yummy candy cane.

Day 16 brought me this little cutie, a gorgeous bag with butterfly's all over it & another of those yummy mallow poles.

Santa sack swap & gifts.

Yesterday was the nominated day to open the Santa sacks in the swap Cheryll arranged. We were to receive 12 gifts plus a Santa sack. My partner was Shez & i eagerly opened my pressies to find

all these fabulous goodies. :) Thanks Cheryll for running the swap & Shez for the pressies.

The goodies are: 2 chocolate moulds, a Matt Moran mini cookbook, a Night Magic perfume set, hand & nail cream, photo holder, 2 embroidery books &

a gorgeous table runner, 2 hand towels, 2 tea towels, a heart to hang, lovely hand knitted scarf which i could've worn yesterday as it was cold with the rain about & a needle keeper. The needle holder which is shown open in this photo is shown closed in the top picture. Shez covered it in cute cat fabric just for me. :) Next to show are the gifts i received at lunch on Tuesday.

Ron makes these & Cath paints the design & i was lucky enough to be given one. Yay for me. :)

Marg gave us these handy mug mats, delicious Christmas cakes, rum balls & some ginger balls. yummm!!!.

& Maree gave us some of her beautiful hand made cards & the yummy choccie bar. I feel so spoilt with all these fabulous gifts. :)

catching up

Where to start as it's been a few days or since posting & i have lot's to show. I guess i'll start with the recipe folder we had to make. Our patchwork group collected recipes all year from each member as we did our supper nights. At the Christmas breakup we were to put our covered folders & a baby photo on a table then we had to try & guess who they all belonged to/were. Made for a fun evening trying to guess as well as the great company & food.

This is my folder & the first finish for December. Next up i had to make another of these for 1 of the kids

I had made these little bitties as a gift idea but decided that i'd keep them & give them to the kids.

Yesterday i went to a Christmas day out with Marg, Maree, Cath & her hubby Ronny. Lovely morning tea, followed by chinese for lunch then a delicious pavlova. Whilst there we all exchanged handmade gifts. I spent the last week or so making these gifts.

Thankyou Pat for these fabulous gifts. I feel so special. I recently took part in an ornament swap run by Tonya, I exchanged with 4 people in the US. Monday i came home from watching Puss In Boots with the kids to find 3 of the ornaments had arrived.

Thankyou ladies for the lovely ornaments. There all caught up. :) Tomorrow i get to open the 12 presents in the Santa sack exchange. Can't wait to see what i find.

Day 5 my gift from Pat was

a pocket diary, a skein of dmc thread & a mini bon bon. Day 6 the present was,

a yummy candy can with a lolly reindeer & a cute reindeer punch needle kit. Day 7 i found

this cute fibre optic tree & another bon bon. The bon bon was popped before i remembered to take a photo. lol. Today i found

a gorgeous purple bag & another of those yummy candy canes with reindeer attached & a small box of buttons in shades of brown. Thanks Pat love all the gifts.

My parcel from Melody for our 6 gift swap arrived yesterday. Lovely goodies for me. :)

Love the purple ribbon. We could open 5 & the 6th to go under the tree.

The gifts were a beautiful book about cats, a bag which Melody appliqued a hexgon to which has a soap inside, a cute little angel ornament, a fat 1/4 & some spoons made of chocolate. Can't wait to try those out. :) Thanks Melody i love the gifts. Can't wait to see what's in number 6. :)

My day out & gifts

Friday i went with Cath to a quilt show where she had a stall. I meant to take my camera but in the morning rush of getting kids organised before i left i forgot it. Lot's of lovely goodies to see/buy & the quilts were all beautiful to look at. I got these off Cath,

i just think they are so cute. When arriving home i saw that a parcel had been delivered to me. Yay my SSCS swap had arrived,

I dutifully only opened the ornament parcel & discovered these gorgeous little bags from Odette.

Thankyou so much Odette. I love them. The other parcels are under my tree waiting patiently for Christmas day.

Thursday we were able to start opening our advent parcels. First parcel contained,

Rose soap & handcream along with a face washer & a cute mini bon bon. Pat must be a mind reader as i just discovered i'm in need of new face washers. Day 2 contained,

A Christmas card making kit, a needle holder/organiser & a yummy mallow pole. Day 3 i found

an exfoliating glove, a lip balm & another cute mini bon bon & today i found,

A cute mini tree that plugs into the computer by usb along with a candy cane just for me. :) Thanks Pat i love the gifts.

it's filled with rose potpourri as well as stuffing. It's smells divine in my lounge room.

Recently i won a pattern from Michelle. Michelle let the winners choose their own patterns so i chose this delightful pattern. Thanks Michelle. I love it.

I bought this layer cake from Jane. Just love the colours of it.

I've been wanting a new machine for quite a while. Due to, what i though was a problem with my machine, i took my machine down to the shop to be looked at. Turns out the brand new needle i put in the day before, came out of the packet bent. Only thing i didn't double check before going to the shop. Boy did i feel a dill. :) Whilst there i got to talking about machines & decided to trade my machine on a new one which also happened to be on sale. This is my Christmas present to myself. Finally got to sew with it today. Lot's of learning to do as it's so different to my old machine.

I also got these in the mail recently.

Jennifer's latest novel & quilt book. Boy the book was a surprise. Last book Sarah was having the babies & this book they are all grown & 1 is getting married. What happened to the in between years?

Saturday this box of yummy goodness arrived for me from Pat who is my partner in the Advent swap. They were neatly packed but i arranged them in order in readiness to start opening on Thursday. :) oo i can't wait. Hee hee.

Saturday night & Sunday saw us decorating with all the Christmas goodies. I ran out of room to hang/ place all the goodies i made this year & i didn't even get half done what i wanted to make. :). lol Looks like i have a big list for next year.

This is beside the kitchen door. I had to take all the bags & hats down to hang this here as there wasn't space any where else. My lounge doesn't have a lot of wall space unfortunately.

I made 2 table toppers this year & a table runner. As the kitchen table has the runner & the coffee table 1 of the toppers,

i hung the other topper here.

Everything i made has some how found a home for the Christmas season. :) Even the 3 bags which i forgot to take a photograph of.

1 Xmas Item a month

Today being the 25th it's 1 Item a month day hosted by Narelle. Thanks Narelle for hosting this, i doubt i would've got as much made as i did otherwise. :) I've already posted a few Xmas items this month but i made these ornaments in the last week.

I bought the pattern as a kit & it made 6. The other one is winging it's way to ??? to???? for a swap. So i can't show it or another ornament i made until my swap partners receive them.

Rememberance Day 11/11/11

I've just spent most of the last 3 weeks attending a Cert II in Business. I'm finally finished & have a shiny piece of paper saying i've passed. The course was one reason i didn't think i'd get those quilts done last month & why not a lot of sewing got done either. Tomorrow i'll be back at the machine to get things done for presents & swap. I did finish this last night though.

I had thought of making them for swaps but being all hand done it's not any easy thing to put together. After finishing it i decided that this one would be the only one i made.

The last pattern arrived today from the Christmas Club I've been in. A gorgeous pattern by Bronwyn Hayes. Sandy included a cute pair of scissors as a gift to us. Thankyou Sandy for running the club & the lovely gifts you've included.

Saturday i cut the borders & glove out for the pillow. I spent Sunday night & Monday night appliqueing the glove,finishing the embroidery & adding beads & buttons. Yesterday i added the backing & made my first November finish. :)

Last 2 quilts

Yesterday i finally made it back to the machine to add the binding to the last 2 quilts. I was beginning to think my goal of having all 10 completed before the end of October was going to pass me by.

I finished this topper last night. I've given it away to one of the kids as although i love the colours i've gone off country style.

I managed to get about 3/4's of the binding done last night on this & put the last stitches in a few minutes ago. I'm so thrilled to finally get these ufo's done out of the way after so many years.

1 Xmas Item A Month

Today is our 1 item a month posting day. I was beginning to think i wouldn't get my item made. I finished Sunday night, washed it yesterday morning & then framed it in the afternoon.

I didn't use the red Cosmo thread supplied with the pattern & pre-printed lined. I chose to use a Cottage Garden thread called Hugs N Kisses. Pop over to Narelle's to see what has been made this month

I finished binding the last quilt Tuesday night i think it was. I now have 8 out of the 10 completely finished. I was hoping to have the other 2 done by the end of October but as something has come up that is taking up my time i may not make it. :(

A while ago i took part in a Tilda swap on Cat's blog. Not sure why but a parcel didn't arrive for me. Cat, the lovely lady she is, insisted on sending me something. I said she didn't have to as not getting goodies one way or another is a risk you take when signing up for swaps. This week the parcel from Cat arrived.

The goodies were all tucked into the cute spotty bag.

& all wrapped up so nicely,

& inside was a gorgeous Tilda angel, choccies(my favourites), notebook & pen, teatowel, some musk lollies & the cute little soap teapot. Thanks again for playing Angel to me Cat.

Recently on a blog i saw a tree box made up & i was intrigued. I asked where i could get one & was given a link. It arrived on Friday.

I was told they did it as a class over 2 days. I'm thinking i need a class also. My daughter said she wanted one so i told she could make this one up. :) lol.

Yesterday i went to the quilt/craft show in Brisbane. I had a list of goodies i wanted. I basically stuck to it but couldn't get some of the things i wanted.

I found these lovely felt Christmas hangings. Be good for some swaps i'm in. :)

As the stall was having 40% of dies i bough the apple core. I was hoping they had the hexagon dies but they had sold out Friday. I checked their website & the 40% sale was on it also so i've ordered the hexagons. I did also buy myself a magnify glass at the show. It twines around your sewing machine & comes with a light at the other end. It can also be hooked around your neck. Unfortunately for me the stall selling those had sold out but it's being sent postage free in a couple of weeks.

What i've been doing.

In between binding & cleaning last week i did manage to work on some other projects.

BOM's from Shell & Paula,

the embroidery part of a cushion pattern by Michelle for the Christmas club,

& blocks for a quilt to be made for the out going president of the patchwork club. Sunday saw me back at the sewing machine to bind 4 more quilts.

These flying geese blocks were leftovers from a quilt i made about 3 years ago. Thought they would make a nice topper.

I did this as a BOM back in 2004/05 i think.

This isn't a UFO. I wasn't happy with the way it was quilted. I unpicked it all & had it quilted a different way. I'm so much happier with it. This hanging was made as a RR several years ago.

I made this sewing set for my partner Lisa in Sandy's keeper swap. I posted a sneak peek a couple of weeks back & as Lisa now has it i can show you it. Last night i finished binding the 4th quilt & now i am waiting for it to dry to take a photo. Just 2 more quilts & i'm done. YAY.

I spent several nights this week getting 2 more quilts bound. When A Tisket A Tasket was offered as a free BOM in 2009 Anne did 2 versions, applique & redwork. I liked the look of both so that's what i did.

The applique version,

& my redwork version. Buttons & ribbons needed to be added along with the bindings. I've been busy spring cleaning & haven't been able to get to the machine to bind any more of those UFO's. Hopefully this weekend i'll get there. :)

Sunday i sat down to start binding the 10 tops i've had quilted. 5 have been there for sometime. :( The other 5 i picked up Saturday. I manged to get the binding on 4 of the quilts & have 2 completely done.

First to be finished was Tis The Season. I started on this also last night

& just finished the binding. I'm so glad 1 ufo & 1 project from this year are out of the way. I also finished another project but as it's for a swap only a sneak peak allowed.

I bought this for ideas for Christmas. Lots of yummy recipes in there.
Last night Nikki came to our patchwork meeting to show off her lovely buttons, patterns & fabrics. I tried to resist, i really did. lol. This is what came home with me.

These fabrics are to be made into gifts, the Christmas pieces into ornaments & the pinkish one because i just loved the colour.

Loved the cute teapot button.

These yummy felts & matching Valdani threads arrived from Shell today. Along with a cute pair of bunny scissors. Shell sent me needles instead of chocolates as a present. Much appreciated Shell, thankyou.

Recently on Fiona's blog she mentioned about making her own vanilla essence. I decided to give it a try & started it on the weekend.

I'm hoping it will be ready by Christmas.

Just realised it's been over a week since i last posted. My how time flies when you are having fun. :)

This is what was in the parcel from Shell. Gorgeous felts & matching valdani threads. Shell also gave me copies of the patterns she was using for her folk art fusion workshop.

I'll have to get the tree done for Christmas. :) The time came on Saturday to check on the Limoncello. I'm happy to report is tastes fantastic.

This i what the recipe ended up making. Looking through recipe magazines recently i found a recipe for blood orange curd. As i love blood oranges i was hoping i could find some in the shops. Fortunately the local fruit shop had them for sale. I gave the curd a try & it's so yummy. Wish the recipe made more. :)

All i got was this & another smaller bottle. Lot's of goodies have been arriving at my home of late.

Rosie sent me these beautiful hand made cloths as a RAK. I was so thrilled & greatly appreciated them. I recently took part in the The keeper swap over at Sandy's. My partner was Lisa. These are the lovely goodies she sent me.

A while back i finished working on some stitcheries i started about a year ago for a project only to discover that i'd not allowed enough seam allowance between 2 of the stitcheries. I still found a use for the one with not enough seam allowance. I had intended this as a gift but wasn't happy with the end result so i gave it to my daughter.

Received a parcel from Shell. My yummy chocolates were soft as it's warmed up a bit here. Just realised i didn't take a photo of what was inside. Oh well next blog post.

I've only had this yellow rose a few months & this is it's 2nd bloom. The purple rose hasn't done much but grow. :(

Blooms, a finish, & stitcheries.

It's Wednesday again already. Not sure where the time has gone again. I haven't posted about the Vignette hexies in a while but i've been adding to them slowly.

Here's what i've done so far.

Love the bright colours of this fabric range.

I changed the top slightly from when i posted about it 2 weeks ago. I removed one of the stones from the sets of 3 i had on the sides. I then made 1/2 blooms & 1/2 hexagon steps & added them along the sides. Just have to finish the ends & it's ready to quilt.

There was a complaint my red dishcloth was too small(it wasn't). I decided to add more stitches to this one & then discovered when the red one was used the cotton stretched. As i'd already knitted a fair bit of this one i wasn't going to pull it out. I made it rectangular in shape but i'm not happy with it.

This last little geranium bloom is from cuttings only about 2 months old. I wasn't sure any of them would actually take but the all did. Yay.

A finish & an eBay find

A couple of years back i started to make a conscious effort to change my lifestyle. One of the things was to stop using bought dishcloths. I started to knit my own but with all things lost interest. However i didn't return to buying the dishcloths i bought knitted ones off someone else. :) A week ago i got the cloth out & finished it.

I started a 2nd one the same night & it's about 1/2 knitted. I also finished putting the top together of Tis The Season. Now to get it quilted.

Now to my eBay find. I love crinoline ladies & i was searching when a posting showed some crochet crinoline along with a lot of other crochet. I put in a bid & i won. My new treasures arrived yesterday,

I love the pansy edged one in this photo.

I think out of all of them i found 3 store bought doilies.

Yesterday i sat down to make these biscornu's. I'd cut them out from scraps left over from the table runners. So they've been sitting there for a while. :) I have 6 finishes already for September. YAY.

Cooking

Yesterday i had a change of pace. Instead of sewing i cooked. In recent times i've taken up making cheese. Still learning but slowly getting there. I've only made fetta & ricotta so far but they've turned out well. I found a new lasagne recipe that requires fresh ricotta so i made my own yesterday.

The curds forming after about an hour.

The cheese draining, needs to hand like this for about 4 hours & then it's ready to eat. I usually throw the whey away but i read on a blog recently uses for it so i saved it this time.

The whey after i poured it off,

All bottled.

This is the ricotta after draining 4 hours. Whilst waiting for the cheese to form i had a go at making limoncello.

Needed 6 lemons &

Vodka.

Peeling lemons with a vege peeler was an experience.

The peel all cut up into strips & placed into 2 large bottles,

vodka added. Now it sits for 2 weeks. After that a sugar syrup is made & then the limoncello is divided into 3 bottles & sits a further week. I also made cakes.

Mexican chocolate cake with chilli ganache,

salted spice caramel slice. We are not sure if we like this at all but i wanted to try it out.

One Flower Wednesday

It's been sometime again since i posted about my hexagons. I've nearly finished sewing them together.

I've got 8 blooms left to sew on the last row & them 10 stepping stones. Not sure if i'm keen on sewing binding around all those hexagon shape & i'm considering appliqueing the top to borders. What do you think? then there is the choice of what colour fabric to choose for the borders.

Finishes, Re-finishes & a new blogger

Last Friday saw me adding wadding, then quilting & binding some things that had sat for a few weeks ready to go. I managed to get all but 2 done that day. That night saw me hand sewing binding down. It was after midnight that i went to bed but still there was more to finish by hand. Midnight finish Saturday night too. :) The weekend saw all them nailed on the head.

These 4 simple runners. All but 1 of these was made from fat 1/4's.

A couple of years ago Michelle was moving & she decided to have a giveaway as part of cleaning/packing up. I received this runner from her. I just love the colours in it. So me. :) lol

I'd finished this stitchery ages ago & it finally made it to the top of the UFO box to be finished. Now for my re-finishes.

These 2 stitcheries were finished many years ago but i'd framed them in frames. I was looking at them recently & decided they were getting too damaged. I put borders on them this time around.

Rosewood Quilt Show

Although Saturday was so dismal with the rain & cold i had a great day out. Pammi & i headed out to Rosewood for the quilt show. Joy & Nikki joined us there for more fun & laughter. Also chatted to Cath who had a stall there. Lots of beautiful quilts there on display.

Love this hexagon quilt. The hexagons are all 1/2"

Olive was sitting here during the day piecing this stunning hexagon quilt. I forgot to ask how many she had pieced together already but i can tell you they are 1/2" hexagons.

Drunkards Path is another favourite of mine.

So many beautiful quilts on display. Just too many to photograph all so this is just a small selection to view. Also on display were other handcrafts by the Rosewood ladies but it was this bedspread that caught my eye.

One Xmas Item Day

Zig zag tablerunner. Not a good shot but it was the only way i could get the whole thing in the photo.

Pets & patterns

This is our new resident. Jasper the Cockatiel. My fur baby tolerates birds as she has been brought up with them. She is the only cat of my 3 that we will put the birds near though.

Here she is with my daughter's Peachface, Bubbles on her back. The bird kept running away when i was trying to get a photo so my daughter had to hold it. :)

Finished Shell's latest heart in her lovely BOM. Today i received a parcel from Shell. I'd recently ordered 2 of her gorgeous patterns & the Valdani threads to go with them.

Shell always wraps things so lovely.

& includes lovely choccies & a teabag. I've eaten the choccies & i'm drinking the tea whilst typing this.

Shell also included a special gift for me - 2 pieces of weavers cloth. I'm so lucky. Thankyou Shell, Harrington & Hannah.

I found that Honeysuckle Cottage is having a sale on patterns. The patterns i ordered arrived today also.

Fun Day Out.

Wednesday night my friend Pammi asked me what i was doing Thursday. "Nothing" i replied. She then asked would i like to go & have a stitching day with Joy. "Yes, sounds good" So off we set on our road trip down to Joy's house. On arrival we found that Nikki had dropped in for a visit as well. The morning was filled with laughter & chatting. Nikki had to leave before lunch as she had stock to make. I guess you are wondering did any stitching get done after lunch then? I can tell you no that the afternoon was filled with more laughter & chatting.

Whilst at Joy's i got her latest pattern,

Her gorgeous Doctor's bag. Though i really think she should've given me the beautiful black one she made. :) hehe

We then went for a drive over to Nikki's home where she has her shop situated. I purchased a few things there,

Exciting mail today.

I was busy sewing when i heard the front gate bang shut. Went out to see what was delivered & saw it was only a book i'd been expecting had been pushed through onto the verandah. As i picked it up i happened to glance out onto to the stairs & there sat another parcel. Ahh excitement now as i knew the stockings from a swap i joined were due to be sent this week - could this be mine from my secret partner? I looked at the state on the addy & wondered if it was from who i thought if was or who else in the group maybe from Tassie. I knew as soon as i opened the outer wrappings & saw the envelope. Yes it was from the lovely Fee. In the excitement i forgot to take a photo of the parcel all wrapped up so had to take it after.

Gorgeous dogs & a lovely blue ribbon.

Here is my beautiful stocking & goodies Fee sent. When i opened the tin i got a further surprise as Fee had put buttons in there too. Thankyou so much Fee i just love the stocking & goodies. Can't wait to Christmas now to hang my stocking. :)

1st finish for August

I finally managed to get back to my machine. I've spent a lot of time lately going back & forth to the Dr's & to have x-rays & ct scans done. Tomorrow it's back for another ct scan to have a cortisone injection. That should be fun. NOT. I was hoping to have more sewn today other than the 2 projects i worked on but 1 of the kids dropped in & that cut into my sewing time quite a bit. :)

This is what i did finish - a cushion cover made from one of Shell's gorgeous pattern. The other project needs to have a bit of quilting done & then the binding sewn down. Hopefully that will be done tonight. Can't see much being worked on at all tomorrow.

Been a while since i posted about my flower garden quilt. I'm slowly making progress.

I think i only have 1 or 2 more rows to go & then all my flowers will have been added. Not sure what i'll do with it then. Whether i'll add more flower & stones or just leave it the size it is & make a lap quilt out of it or use it on a table.

Bits & Pieces

One of my cats loves to squeeze into small or unusual spaces. The other night found him under the computer table. The shelf is very narrow but he slept for hours there without falling off.

Every year we make a trek to a bush lemon tree that we found beside a road out in the country. They make the best lemon butter. Recently we picked the last of them.

The lemon butter doesn't last long in my house. I manged to get a photo of a bottle from the last batch. I'll be making more tomorrow as i've had requests for a bottle of it.

A friend grows lemonade fruit & recently gave me some.

I squeeze them to make lemonade although they are quite delicious to eat.

Very refreshing lemonade. Pity it wasn't summer as it would be great then.

A couple of weeks ago Bec mentioned on her blog she was selling off fabrics, patterns & books. I bought her stash of Civil War/Repro fabrics. :)

I've been busy stitching these. The BOM"s from Shell & Paula. The Christmas stitchery is the first project to arrive in the Christmas club i joined.

I bought this name tag a while back but had forgotten to take a photo.

Admired these at Joy's & when she said about getting them off eBay of course i had to have a look & found a set to buy for myself. It make a great shelf to sit my little iron & now my rule steady as well.

Patterns i've recently bought,

fabrics for projects & these 2 great books i found.

I've read them both & enjoyed them immensely. The Goodbye Quilt is about a Mum creating a memory quilt as she journeys across America by car with her daughter to deliver the daughter to college. The Healing Quilt is about a group of women in a small American town that get together to make a quilt to raise funds for a new mammogram machine as theirs is outdated & it's reported that there is a high rate of breast cancer in the their region. As they piece & then hand quilt the quilt you learn of their stories & how getting together to talk as they quilt heals their wounds & why they name The Healing Quilt. I must admit i cried a lot. lol

Despite having my day shortened by having to go to the Dr's & then sit there waiting for ages to get in i did managed to finish 2 more bags yesterday. I really don't know why they make appointments at Dr's i've yet to get in on time. :(

I chose a teapot because i love all things tea, a seahorse because they are so cute, the battle axe because i play World Of Warcraft, the cat because i love cats :), the rose, well i love them too & the leaf because i liked the filigree look of it.

2 finishes & things

Last week was a washout for anything. I had plans too as it was the girls first week of the school holidays. Went down with a severe migraine & nausea. I normally don't get the nausea with migraines but this year i started to & it's driving me to distraction. I couldn't eat & hardly drink for several days this time around. All i managed was a little handsewing on a few days. Yesterday i sat down to finish a couple of things. One i can't show you as it's for a swap but the other finish i can.

A couple of weeks back Pammi & i went to the local handmade markets. Lots to see & i only bought 2 things.

This gorgeous little bucket which resides on my cutting table to throw scraps into & the cute little owl is just for decoration.

Last week saw the arrival of the first pattern in the Christmas club i joined. Sandy also inlcuded the lovely Cottage Garden thread to stitch the pattern with.

I have some especial good news. Yesterday saw the early arrival of my great Nephew Thomas Eli. He is one special baby. You see my brother, Ian Thomas, was killed in August 1982 8 weeks after his only child was born. His daughter named Thomas after her dad's middle name.

.... my name is Jeanette & i'm addicted to buying fabrics, books, patterns & goodies. I think i need help. :) Lol.

I tried to resist, i really did. But i kept seeing on blogs cute things from Natalies book. Just loved the Christmas ideas in Rosalie's book. After seeing a few versions of this quilt i "needed" to get this pattern below myself as it is very cute.

Also arriving in the mail last week was Shell's next pattern in her little houses along with those yummy choccies & teabag.

Shell wraps up the goodies so lovely. I unwrapped the pattern for the photo but left the threads wrapped up so you can see how pretty it looks. :)

I purchased a few bits & pieces from Cath & Marg at our retreat.

Some Christmas fabrics from Marg to make a table runner. The blue piece is for a bag & the others because i liked them.

Love the cute softies & i can't pass by anything with embroidery.

Fabrics for runners & not sure what i'll do with the bundle of fat 1/4's yet. The brown/pink spot isn't for me.

Marg & Cath gave us all a little gift at retreat. The cute little cutting mat from Marg is an ideal coaster & i love the little notepad holder from Cath.

Cath gave me this pattern. Have to try & get it ready for Christmas. Also this packet of cute little buttons,

Barb was making mug bags at retreat & as i needed a new one i got one from her. She didn't have any with cats on the front so i chose this one

Just 2 of my favourite things.

The week before Shez let me know my Christmas swap parcel was on its way & i opened my door either Monday or Tuesday to find a huge parcel sitting there.

Now i have to be good & not peek until Christmas. (i haven't looked Shez). Our swap arranged by the lovely Cheryll was to be a sack & 2 gifts for the first month , then 2 gifts every month until we have 12 to open at Christmas.

My sack full of goodies. Thanks again Shez.

Lastly i'd seen Phoebe the elephant made up in beautiful fabric on Helens blog & loved it. I finally rang Tereasa & asked her could she send me the pattern & kit please. It arrived yesterday.

So can anyone direct me to some sort of quilters anonymous group for help? Although not everything i've shown i bought. Lol

Flower Day

I only managed to add 3 & 1/2 flowers to my Vignette Hexagon quilt this week. I had hoped to add more to my other hexagon quilt top but it didn't even get a look in.

Last night i decided to get out my baby hexagons & try to work out what i'd do with them. I laid them out & thought a few more needed. As i was making the last of the 5 it occured to me exactly how i'll turn them into a little quilt. Stay tuned for that. :)

Just as well i'm not making more of thses flowers as those tiny papers won't take to being used much longer.

Retreat

Retreat at Mount Alford Lodge was fabulous again. Thanks ladies for a wonderful weekend. After setting up & sewing for quite a while we were called for the first fabulous meal of the weekend. We sat down to Chicken parmigiana, roast potato & sweet potato, broccoli & cauliflower in white sauce & peas & carrots.

Dessert was crepes with a yummy orange sauce that tasted like liquid marmalade & ice cream.

Supper was left in the lounge area for us both nights which consisted of white & chocolate tim tams & another biscuit that i don't know the name of.

Saturday & Sunday saw all of us busily sewing. Some completed projects & some didn't. I'd taken along all my bag ufo's & managed to get the outsides worked on which is what i set out to do.

Marg made several of this style of lovely runner. Quick & simple to do. I've bought fabrics to make some myself. :)

Barb did finish this gorgeous runner. I just took the photo to early. :) I also have the pattern to make this & the fabrics. lol. Barb also made this lovely note book cover.

Last night i worked on my Vignette hexagons & managed to get 7 more made.

I love the bright colours.

I was going to do a post yesterday but i'm glad i waited because these arrived in the mail yesterday.

Shell posted the latest heart stitchery of her BOM the other day & i've got it all stitched up.

I've been wanting for quite some time to get myself a pair of Doc Marten's but for one reason or another put off buying them. Well recently i decided the time was right & these are the pair i bought.

Couldn't be any other colour but purple. :) lol. Found this gorgeous box the other day.

Books & fabric

I recently bought these books to aid me in ideas for a crazy patchwork round robin that i'm doing with some good friends. Over the years we've done all sorts of beautiful RR's but this is the first time we've tried a crazy patchwork RR. Should be fun & i'm looking forward to seeing what we each make for our 1st block & what each of us makes for the others.

The reason i went into Ipswich Friday was this,

Puttin' On The Ritz layer cake i bought from Jane. I must have been out when the parcelman called or when he knocked. Hope i'm home when the next parcel from Jane arrives as it's inconvenient having to go into Ipswich for parcels now instead of my local PO. Jane also included these lovely 5" squares in the parcel.

Whilst in Ipswich i went to Bargain Box for more fabric to finish off some other bags. I didn't realise they were having 20% off or i'd bought more fabrics. :) lol.

These are what i did buy. I also visited a little shop that sells all sorts of vintage/antique goodies & came home with these,

Not a matching set but close enough for me. I thought them really sweet.

Pinmoors & a finish

Although i started late sewing Thursday i did finish a bag. No sewing on Friday as i had to go into Ipswich but more on that later. A while back i bought Pinmoors to try out but just haven't had a chance to. As i needed to baste the bag i was sewing i decided it was time to try the Pinmoors.

The Pinmoors just get pushed onto the end of normal sewing pins.

I had a little difficulty getting the ends of the pins to stick up to push the Pinmoors on. I used bag wadding so maybe that is why. I shall try the Pinmoors through 3 layers with normal wadding on another project before i decide if i like them or not.

June Blocks

I decided since last month was a blow out for me regarding working on ufo's ect that this month i'd better take myself in hand & get some things done. I've got my June blocks for the stitch-a-long done & borders on. Which i did today. The borders that is not the stitching. I did that over the last 2 days. Last month i left the borders to the last minute to do. So far this month i've finished a cushion & today i finished a bag. The photo of that will have to wait as it's my 1 Christmas item a month project. I had hoped to have more done as i set myself a goal of working on 1 things a day this month which i should be able to achieve as they are mostly bag projects this month or small things. I've already dragged the chain on a couple ofdays & the other days i've had a migraine. Hopefully from today on i'll be back on track with my goal for this month. :)

I'd finished the cushion a few weeks back but wasn't happy with the way it looked when stuffed. Took it back apart to change the way i put the back on & bought a cushion insert to use. I finally got around to finishing it today. :) I had to cut the insert down as i could only find square ones & i needed a rectangle shape. I'm much happier now with the way the cushion looks with the insert. The pattern is from the lovely Shell. I've used Valdani threads for the embroidery which are beautiful to embroider with.

Hexagons, pattern & thread holder

I've made a start on the hexagons i showed last Wednesday for the Vignette hexagon quilt. I've managed to get 9 made & part of another done so far.

I've also finished the row & started the next last night on my hexie top as well.
When Michelle showed this top she was working on a little while back i thought it gorgeous. I was so happy when she posted the other day it was ready to buy. It was waiting for me when i got home last night.

Very pretty pattern & i love the spots. :) Pop on over & visit Michelle as she has a special price on the pattern until June 30th.

The needle/thread holder i showed yesterday is by Clover.

As you can see from the packaging it's domed.

I have a needle here threaded ready to insert into the slots that you can see in the blue wheel. It will take10 needles.

Needle in slot & then holding thread firmly hook it around the little cream bit you can see on edge(sorry don't know how to add arrows ect to photo's). Then twist the blue wheel clockwise until thread is wound in. Do slide the needle in further though. I just left it out a bit so you could see it. If you start at number 1 when adding needle & thread then when you remove the needles/thread go in reverse from 10. To remove: take out needle firmly hold thread & gently pull. No need to turn anything.

As it has a cover everything stays in there safe & sound. The cover twists on. Quite a good idea the needle/thread holder. Makes me wish i'd ordered a 2nd one for other hand piecing projects. :) lol.

Yummy Mail

Yesterday a parcel i've been waiting on arrived. I opened it to find the goodies all wrapped up lovely.

Shell had posted recently about her new pattern & as i loved it i ordered it straight away. Also included was a yummy chocolate & teabag. I've yet to try the tea. I mentioned to Shell that i'd forgotten to order the raspberry thread which you can see in the bag. I hoped she would add it to my order & bill me. Well the lovely Shell added it alright but as a giftie. Aren't i lucky? Thank you so much Shell.

Such a gorgeous stitched house & piecing around it. I also ordered the Valdani threads that go with it.

These threads were designed for Shell & are called Folk Art for Michelle May. They are gorgeous.
I forgot to take a photo of something i bought & it arrived last week.

I ordered this thread holder from Sarah I'm glad i did as i've a use for it today. I've an hours train ride as i'm off to have my hair done by a trainee hairdresser & this gives me an opportunity to sew hexagons together. :)

A Fabulous Saturday

Friday night my friend Pammi(get a blog Pammi :)) rang & asked me if i had plans for Saturday. My reply was no & she said she was heading Bayside way & would i like to come & we'd visit our good friend Joy. Off we went out for a fabulous day. Thanks for a fabulous day Pammi & Joy. We picked Joy up & off we went to Thread & Ginger . Lovely little shop. I only purchased a few things there. :)

Some pieces for the Civil War quilts & some hanky linen.

And this cute little sewing purse.

Next stop was lunch at McDonalds & then off to Joy's home away from home - Bayside Stitches & Craft shop. Lots of lovely things in there to look at. Only bought a few things to begin with.

Some ric rac, purple fabric, bag wadding & glue refills. I ran out of the refills making all those hexies & my local shop didn't have stock. The only other shop close by me who sells similar glue refills is too expensive. Whilst Joy & Pammi were being served i kept eying off a couple of yummy containers. Joy asked me had i seen the purple suitcases. "What purple ones?" Joy pointed to the ones i'd been eying off. Well i didn't realise they were purple. lol. You can guess what happened next.....

Yep they came home with me. They are so cute. And the other container i was eying off was this one

I'd admired this little case when Joy bought hers. I think i'll use it for my hand piecing projects.

Then we went back to Joy's for a chatty visit & look at what i got

Yesterday my lovely mail people brought me 2 packages. The first was a book from the Book Depository.

Another Tilda book & only because it was on sale too. :) And the 2nd parcel arrived as i left to pick up my daughter from school. I must have looked funny walking up the street tearing it open. lol.

My lovely goodies i won from Michelle. A pattern, 2 cards, fat 1/4, threads & some beautiful buttons. Thank you so much Michelle. I love it all. Especially the pattern as i love anything with teapots/cups.

One Flower Wednesday

It's been a while since i posted about my flower quilt. I finally got myself back into working on it Tuesday nights. I think i've progressed a row & a half since i last posted.

Also over the last few weeks i've cut up a jelly roll into hexagons for the Vignette hexagon quilt. 1 jelly roll down 1 to go. :) Now to start sewing them together. lol

Here they all are. I can cut 16 hexagons for a strip. The spare 2 i shall use in some other project.

Recently on SAL Chookyblue drew a name for a prize but as the winner didn't contact her she re-drew the prize & i won. The prize arrived yesterday.

Yesterday i also found out i'd won a giveaway Michelle had recently. Woo Hoo. I very rarely win a thing. Really brightened the day for me on what was another sad day for my kids & i. Both my sons have recently lost mates. I'm a little concerned now as these things usually come in 3's. I sincerely hope not this time around.

I had these ready to post yesterday but there were issues with blogger. Still seems to be as it's only showing a few comments on the previous post. I know there were more as i've replied to them. lol

Latest stitcheries in Shell's & Paula's BOMS. I'm having such fun with these & because they are so quick to do i'm easily keeping up with them.

Popped into the local cheapie shop in the hope the may have more chests in but they didn't. However they had a new range of boxes come in so these 2 came home with me.

They are already in use. :)

Tuesday's Doings

Yesterday(Tuesday) dawned nice & sunny, if a little cold, which was fortunate as Vision Patchwork Club was hosting this years Queensland Quilters picnic. I was lucky the venue was across the road from my daughters school as it meant i could arrive bright & early to peruse the quilts Vision quilters had on display & the vendors stall without the crowds. It sure did get crowded later on as several bus loads of quilters from across Brisbane came to join in the picnic.

Of course i came home with lots of goodies after enjoying the day with several friends. 1st stop was Cath's stall. I needed a ruler holder with a few more slots & Cath had one on her stall also with drawers. Now i can store my cutters out of the way

just love the red & purple together. Cath gave me one of the patterns in the photo below & i couldn't go past buying the other, :)

Gorgeous "It Takes Two" pattern by Sue Daley. Comes with all the templates to hand piece it. At the stall next to Cath's i found this lovely red fabric,

looks pink but it's a lovely red with black lace look all over it. The church where the picnic was held also has a garden club & they had a stall there. I spotted this plant,

I love elephant ear plants. The ladies of Vision Patchwork club had donated goodies for lucky door prizes & i happened to win one. :)

I enjoyed making the little candle mats so much i went back to Bareroots & ordered more. :) The lovely postie finally delivered them the other day.

A couple for Christmas & the others just because i like them.

I saw this candle mat on Linda's blog & admired it. She told me where she got it from & the price. A bargain i thought for the pattern & kit & as the Aussie dollar is good i did well with it & postage costs.
Last to arrive was a book from the book depository. I wasn't going to order anymore Tilda books but this was a bargain at $7 & free postage. :)

My Week

As i've joined 2 groups working on quilts from Vignette In Stitches & book 3 is nearly due out i figured i'd better make a start on them. Easter Saturday i traced out the stitcheries for block 1.

I've gotten this far in a week. I also traced out the stitchery needed for the Vignette hexagon quilt but haven't made a start on them yet.

Over the weekend i made a start on the hexagons themselves. I then couldn't decide on which pieces to use as centres. Made the executive decision to trace out all the jelly roll strips & make the leaves up & go from the with the blooms. This is how many i've managed so far.

When i bought my hat bow a while back the shop also had chests for sale. I wanted to get one but by the time i went back they'd all sold. I was in Ipswich the other day & noticed one of the cheapie shops had the hat boxes & other boxes in there. I wandered in as i had 10 minutes to kill before my appointment & discovered to my delight they had some chests there.

I am using this for the hexagons & i use the hat box to store the Vignette In Stitches pieces in. I'd been seeing on a blog for a while hexagons being made for a Confetti quilt. Curiosity got the better of me. I looked it up on Google & found where to buy it. :) This arrived last week.

Not sure when i'll get time to make though. Too many other ~~projects~~ UFO's to finish & that i'm working on.

Finally i get to do my post. Only a day late. My family & I drove to northern NSW to spend a few days with my parents & attend the ANZAC ceremony there. I'd gotten credit for my laptop to use only to discover the sim card was obselete & i needed to buy a new one. I wasn't impressed as i hadn't been informed they needed to be replaced every so often.

This is what i made for my 1 item a month for Christmas.

The little triangles are all stuffed & then sewn together to make a tree shape.

Busy Days

Time got away again & i realised Wednesday afternoon if i wanted to have the girls rabbits done for Easter & the little bags i had better shift myself. I got in & cut out the dresses & bits for the bags. After the groceries were put away Thursday morning i got stuck into sewing. Thursday night saw me stuffing the rabbits & Friday putting them together & finishing 2 little bags. Who'd have thought such small things would take so long. :)

Easter Swap, goodies & a stitchery

I had several parcels arrive yesterday which gave my day a nice boost as i'd spent it giving my kitchen a thorough cleaning. 1st parcel i opened was from Lisa who was my partner in the Tilda Easter swap. I asked for a hare as i already have a rabbit.

Lisa dressed him in red which i like & he matches my rabbit. :) Lisa also included a fabric egg as a surprise. Lots of yummy choccies in the bag which had a cute little peg with heart attached to enclose the bag. Thankyou again for the lovely gifts Lisa.
Also to arrive yesterday was some books i've been waiting for.

I had been eyeing this off for a while but not sure if i wanted it. I have seen a quilt made up from the book & would like to make it myself. Another hexie project. :)

I ordered this as soon as i knew it was released. This is a new series by Wanda Brunstetter. It's a series called Kentucky Brothers.

I've been reading about Pinmoors & decided to give them a go. They also arrived this week. I've yet to try them out.

And i did this little stitchery the other night. It's from a lovely little Easter bag by Dawn. Hopefully i'll have time this week to finish it before Eaters since i'm spending most days Autumn cleaning the house.

Yesterday afternoon whilst blog surfing to fill in time until i had to pick up my daughter form school i found that Paula had posted the next little stitchery in her BOM. I had half an hour left so thought "why not". I didn't quite get it all stitched in the half hour but did finish it later on.

I volunteered to play an Easter Angel in the Easter swap i'm in so a lovely lady wouldn't miss out. This is the softie i made her.

Such a cutie & she'll be hopping of to ????? No i can't say where except it's overseas where i think she'll be loved. Bye Bye bunny. The poor bear looks a little worse for wear. He belongs to my son who doesn't want it. I'll have to give the poor thing a tidy up.

A finish & some goodies

I made the other candle mat up last week. took a bit longer than the chicken one as it has a bit more embroidery on it.

A while ago i bought a couple of things i forgot to blog about. I had tried not to buy this book but i saw on a blog somewhere something made up from the book & i decided i had to have the book.

Oh course had to have Bronwyn's latest pattern too. It was in my hands straight off the press. :)

I think i'm a glutton for punishment. I've joined the new Vignette blog to make the hexagon quilt in Vignette 2. Just click on the link in my right side bar if you want to join in. As i was already making a scrappy hexagon quilt i bought a jelly roll for this quilt.

It's Dilly Dally by Me & My Sisters Designs. Decided to buy hexagon shapes this time round rather than print off the net. Ended up with 2 packets as i didn't realise until the first packet arrived i hadn't ordered the packet that included the template.

Last Wednesday night at pathwork club my friend Maree said to me "what are you doing Friday?" I replied " nothing that i know of". Maree then tells me she is off to Boronia Heights. I was a little puzzled & wondered what was at Boronia Heights when it hit me & i said to Maree " oh take me please". Friday comes & i'm picked up at 10 & we head off to Tess's new shop Homespun & Beautiful. :). Lots of gorgeous fabrics there to choose. But i only bought a piece for a bag & some bobble braid in white which i've been looking for for ages.

As we left Maree suggested we head over to Patches. More beautiful fabrics. I was still chasing one last piece i need for Vignette in stitches & found a suitable piece here along with some black fat 1/4's & a purple thang.

Would've prefered white with yellow spot but figured this was as good as i was going to find that matched in with my other fabrics. After we left Patches we headed to The Quilter's Store. So much to see in this store. :) I bought more fabrics for my Civil War quilts, some parlan, a pattern & guess what? i found a white with yellow spot. yay. Also picked up a white with green spot just in case i needed it. lol.

My busy days

I've been busy with one thing or another the last few days. Decided Sunday afternoon i needed to do something different but what? I'd recently purchased the felt for the 2 candle mat patterns i bought & since Easter is coming up thought the chicken mat would be perfect. I prepared the bits & pieces for it Sunday afternoon & then spent Sunday night sewing it all together. I think i did an alright job considering i've never made anything with felt before.

I also finished another Brutus stitchery. I think that is 4 done now.

I've also been working on my Tis The Season BOM. The stitcheries have been done quite a while but i've only just got the sashings on the blocks in the last week.

Finished embroidering the last 2 blocks on Friday, then Saturday i embroidered the 2" black squares & Sunday cut all the purple squares. Yesterday was spent putting it together along with the outer border on the applique basket quilt. I was going to start basting all the tops today but it seems i'm developing a migraine so i think it's off to lie down for me.

Flower Day.

On reflection i wasn't happy with the spread of blues through the Flower Garden top or the fact it was ending in a 9 bloom row. Out came the scrap basket & i made another 10 blooms last week. This addition gave me room to spread the blues a bit further around as well as making the last row a 10 bloom row.

Those 2 flowers there are purple. Found the cute apple print fabric & thought it would look good in amongst the blooms.

Last night i finally got a chance to sew more hexagons to the 2 rows i'd done weeks ago.

long view. I think i'll be making half flowers to add to the rows of 9 blooms. or maybe edge the top with more of the stepping stones. Any suggestions?

What i've been working on

It's been a busy couple of days for me. I traced out Shell's lovely 12 of hearts BOM. I hadn't used Valdani threads before & at first wasn't sure if i'd like them but i love them. They are beautiful threads to work with.

All 3 done. Ready for the next block.
Monday & today i spent at the sewing machine putting together 2 BOM's from 2009.

I put Anne's A Tisket A Tasket together. It still needs a border fabric. When i was buying the sashing, cornerstone & first border fabrics i couldn't find anything suitable. Hopefully i will soon as i'd really like this UFO out of the way. Now to put the redwork version together. I think that will be tomorrow's project.

As i was putting it together i realised i'd stepped out of my comfort zone with this one. These colours & fabrics aren't normally my style. Not sure how i feel about it yet. I'm hoping it will grow on me. :)

Another finish & some goodies

When i got out the pattern & fabrics to start stitching the Christmas wreath i found another little Christmas pattern i'd traced out at the same time but had forgotten about. I stitched it up but wasn't sure just what to do with it. If i'd found it when i made the bag up earlier this year it could've been a pocket on the other side. I though about another bag but didn't really want one & then inspiration hit me. I quickly traced & stitched another Christmas tree. I had hoped to have my creation finished by last Friday but alas i ran out of time. Yesterday i spent cutting, sewing & putting together this:

A little runner.

At the local shops the other day i went into one of the cheapie stores looking for a box to put all my bits of ribbons, ric rac, ect into. They had new stock in so the box i found doesn't match all my other boxes. :( But i do like the one i got.

They have these "travel" looking ones in all different sizes. I even discovered chests there looking like this. I wanted to get one but as i was walking that day i didn't want to try & carry it home. Hopefully they'll still have stock when i'm down there with transport.

This gorgeous hat box also came home with me. Not sure what i'll use it for yet but i'll think of something :)

I ordered some Valdani threads from Shell & they arrived the other day. These are for her 12 of hearts BOM & these 3

are for her gorgeous patterns i bought a while back. :) Shell included some of those yummy chocolates again with a delicious teabag. I'm spoilt. :) Thanks Shell.

I spotted these cute black cat embroidery snips on a blog a fair while ago & set about hunting a pair down. I ordered them about a month ago after finally deciding that "yes i do need them" but due to delays they only arrived last week. I think i may just about have a pair of scissors for all the projects i have on the go. Lol.

Xmas item & another finish

Today is 1 Xmas item a month day & i just made it. :)

I've been wanting to make this ever since Vicki had it on her blog quite a while ago. Now i can cross it off my "to do" list.
My other finish after several years is the table topper that matches the runner i finished a few posts ago.

The embroidery patterns were put out by Crabapple Hill many years ago. The shops that had them created their own versions of a tabletopper out of them. I liked this version the best of what i seen at the time & i loved the fabrics that went with the kit.

Just a couple of close-ups of the patterns used for the embroidery. See i told you i love anything to do with teacups, teapots, jugs & sugar bowls. :) Excuse the wrinkles. Photographed it straight of the line from drying. Lol. I was concerned to with this topper as i discovered a few stains on it when i went to quilt it. Luckily they seem to have some out in the wash.

Some Finishes

One little project i finished over the weekend has only been waiting about 5 month to finish. I did the embroidery, cut the squares & that is where i stopped. After seeing a post from Joy showing her stitchers cushion finished i was inspired to finish mine. Had a few difficulties because the pattern isn't big on instructions but i got there in the end. :)

Garfield thought he need to inspect the end product but looked away as i took the photo.
The other project i finished i a little bunny to be sent off to ?????? for the Easter swap i’m in. Hope her new owner likes her.

Today i worked on more UFO’s. Hopefully will have them completely finished tonight. Well 1 will be the other i'’ve decided to do some hand quilting on as the flowers & leaves were a bit awkward to machine quilt around.

Flower Day

All i've managed for the last 2 weeks are 6 1/2" hexagons & 1 1/4" hexagon. Only 1 baby as i've run out of papers. I'm trying to decided whether to remove them or not. I'm thinking i may leave them in sew the flowers all together & just frame the piece behind glass. Save fiddling with them tiny hexagons & trying to remove papers without ruining my blooms. :)

I've not progressed far with making my 1" hexagons into a top. I did realise though that i can't have rows of 10 all the way through. I'll need to either make 1/2 hexagon flowers for every 2nd row if i want the top to be square or just leave them out & every 2nd row will be just 9 flowers. I'll decide on that when i get another couple of rows sewn together. I got a surprise the other day. I thought i'd gathered up all my 1" hexagon flowers when i started to sew them together. I store them in a little chest of drawers & i have one of the drawers out as i'm using it to store the stepping stones. I was chatting to my son the other day & we were standing near the chest of drawers when i happened to look in the bottom drawer. Imagine my surprise when i found a large pile of 1" flowers stacked in the drawer. So glad i found them before i'd gotten too far into sewing the top as i discovered i'd actually made more blues then any other colour. Last night saw me laying all the hexagon flowers out on the floor so that the greens & blues were evenly spread out over the top. At least now i know what the top will look like. :)

Yummy Goodies for Me!!!!!

Yesterday the lovely postie delivered to me a parcel i was expecting from Shell. I opened it to discover the patterns wrapped up so lovely i didn't want to open it at first. Also with the patterns was a little bag containing a teabag & chocolates. Thanks Shell. The chocolates were a little soft from the hot weather but nothing a stint in the freezer couldn't fix. :)

I will try the tea later on when i've time to sit down with a book & eat the chocolates then. :)

Yesterday i emailed Cath to get some more Cottage Garden Threads & this morning she told me the ric rac to match the threads was in. Well Cath just dropped by with my threads & the ric rac. So tempting to buy all the ric rac its so gorgeous. I bought some of course, who wouldn't at $11 for 5 metres of ric rac.

I don't usually get on the computer at night as that is my stitching time. I'm so glad i did last night as Paula posted the next stitchery for Home Sweet Home. I wouldv'e missed the posting otherwise as i'll be away from the computer a couple of days. I quickly traced it out & then stitched it up.

Fabric, Mail & Finishes

Last week whilst in Ipswich i went to Bargain Box hunting for fabrics to finish "A Tisket, A Tasket BOM" from 2 years ago. I also needed to fabric shop for my Easter swap & i also wanted to get fabrics to make up the Love Cats pattern. I had to buy 2 lots of fabric for the baskets as i not only did the applique version of the baskets but also the redwork as well.

These are what i bought for the applique baskets but i couldn't find a border fabric i liked or that matched.

Fabrics i chose for my Easter swap. I bought enough of the homespun to make my girls rabbits as well. The lady i'm making the rabbit for likes pink.

I spotted the rabbit candle mat on a blog somewhere & i liked it so much i just had to have the pattern. Whilst searching the Bareroots web site i found the little chicken candle mat which i thought i would make for Easter.

My first UFO finish for March. The stitchery is by Crabbapple Hill but a lady here in Australia designed the runner which also goes with a matching tablecloth. Stitcheries for it are also Crabapple Hill but the cloth was designed by the lady who i bought the kit off. And no it's not finished either but will be next week as it's next on my UFO to do list.

I love teapots, teacups ect so i couldn't pass by doing this.So sweet with all the gorgeous flowers.

My 2nd finish. This tabletopper was also designed by the lady who did the runner. Those tiny spots are very small suffolk puffs that are then gathered up. I had to make over 20 of them. So tedious them being so small. This is the topper i was trying to finish last year but had trouble figuring out how she put the binding on. Once i hit upon what she was talking about it was very easy to do. Not sure i'd ever like to do that again though.

This arrived in today's mail. Fat 1/4 pack of Me & My Sister Favourites to make Vignette in Stitches. The other fabrics i need will arrive in next weeks mail. Can't wait to get started. I'll have to hurry up & catch up with everyone else since Vignette 2 is out.
