1797 Revisited

My new EPP project is slowly growing. It's taking longer now it's grown. The next row i think i counted needs 54 pieces. A long way to get to the 800 plus pieces in the original.

This is the original quilt & details can be found here.
I've added a blue row to mine but not sure i like it but it's staying as i'm not unpicking it. :)
Happy Sewing,

FNSI October

Yesterday i joined in FNSI & I started the morning by putting together a needlecase.

I had just chosen the fabric for the 2nd needlecase when little visitors arrived. So no sewing for several hours. I was tired when they left but i really needed to get the needlecase done so i sat & sewed. Then off to the lounge room to attach the binding.

Now to decide which to send in the swap. :).

After that i traced out a Halloween stitchery.

& put a few stitches in before bed.

After sewing the binding down on the needlecase i put together the next row for my new EPP project. There are 30 there.

Embroidery up next. I finished the flowers off in the jug & completely stitched the other from Send My Love bom.

October Snowman.

A few days behind with my snowman heart. I put it together a couple of days ago but only managed to get the stitching done tonight.
Pop over to Karen & Joan's blogs to see the snowman hearts they made for this month.

This pattern was put out by Bunny Hill designs several years ago but they've been released again if anyone wants to make them. You can find them here.

English Paper Piecing

Ummm i might have started a new project. I'm in a FB group & one lady suggested we do a group challenge based on a quilt displayed in the VA museum. We are calling our quilt 1797 Revisited because that is how old the quilt is that is on display.

Another member asked a lady in Victoria to create the template & papers for us which was really good. As mine arrived yesterday i made a start last night.

After this photo i've started to add the next row. :)

Another UFO finished

I've had this quilt back from Fiona for several weeks & with the binding made but with life butting in i only got back to it Saturday. Then the beautiful rain made photo's impossible until today. Not that the sun was much better as i couldn't get a decent shot showing the fabric colours & the stitchery. Pattern was in an old patchwork magazine & is by Patchwork Rose Cottage (Judy Gray) called Cherry Ripe. My SIL bought each of us a kit from the shop so it wasn't my fabric choices. Not sure when i started this. Maybe early 2000's.

FNwF October

Last night i joined in Friday Night with Friends hosted by the lovely Cheryll.

Just a few things stitched. Around lunch time i trimmed back my little stitcheries for Send my Love bom & cut a background piece to applique some EPP to. Then onto a necessary but boring job which i'd been putting off - winding DMC threads onto cards. I only thought i had a few needing to be replaced but that few turned into about 20 & took me several hours. Just as well i have Netflix to entertain me. :) :).

The evening saw me me applique the stitcheries to the backgrounds.

Applique the EPP down
This is the front of a  needle case i'm making for a swap.

Lastly i started doing the stitching on this panel from a ufo which i discovered to my disgust i had  started on back in 2012.
I'd dragged it out earlier this week & have completed the front & back panels & i am now up to the small stitcheries which go on My Little Teahouse sewing bag. I'm hoping it isn't another 6 years before it's a finish. :) :).

FNSI September

Thankyou Wendy for being our lovely hostess for FNSI

I had hoped to be sewing binding onto a quilt yesterday but it wasn't meant to be. Instead i started out to repair my poor quilt. Wear & tear had seen the embroidery thread holding down the leaves & flowers disintegrate.

I started with the red blooms & sadly discovered more things need stitching down then i originally thought. Some of the gold pieces, little black spots & the bird bath in the centre are also lifting up because the vliesofix has also disintegrated. After i get all the applique sorted out the binding will need replacing.

So that was my evening for FNSI.

UFO finish

The blocks in this quilt were made in a sampler bee through Instagram back in 2015 for fans of Bonnie & Camille fabrics. I think most if not all the block patterns also came from Bonnie & Camille patterns. I think i put the top together last year.

I sent it to Fiona to be quilted & it arrived back Monday just so beautifully quilted. Yesterday was binding day. I had hoped to get a 2nd quilt bound that also arrived back on Monday but i had 3 small visitors so the 2nd quilt awaits me.
My block is the centre one 3rd row.

FNwF September

Yesterday i joined in with our lovely hostess Cheryll  in this months Friday Night with Friends.

I started early & first up was to prep this months Snow Happy Hearts block. It was stitched down later in the afternoon will watching Netflix. Pop over to visit Shez, Karen & Joan to see what their hearts.

2nd on my list was to finally trim back last months Send My Love bom sticheries & turn the edges under ready to stitch. That done they were appliqued later on in the evening as well. The backgrounds were also trimmed back.

3rd on my list was to add the bias binding to baby "C's" banner.

4th project was to cut out a banner i stitched months ago, add the backing & then the bias along the top. The bells were stitched on during the evening.

5th project was to add borders, wadding, backing, quilt  & then binding this free stitchery from Michelle. Binding was stitched during the evening.

Last project was one i stitched a month or so ago. It is from Fig n Berry Creations. I added borders, wadding, backing, quilted it & sewed on the binding & it also was ready for the pile of projects to work on during the evening.

That was my busy day of sewing. So glad my project pile has some what shortened. Just wish my ufo list was being shortened as well.:).

Pop over to Cheryll's blog to see who all joined i last night & see what projects they worked on.

Happy Sewing.

FNSI August.

I started my FNSI by cutting & then sewing the binding on a quilt recently quilted by Fabulous Fiona. I started cutting out the plaid pieces when i lived up north early 2000's then put away until recent years. I cut the gold pieces & both borders & voila!!! a quilt top was done. Now it is a fully completed quilt. :)

My next little project hit a bump in the road when i realised the bias was the wrong width. I guess when i was buying it online i was too busy making sure i wasn't buying way more metres then needed that i forgot to check width. :( Hopefully the new bias arrives Tuesday. I trimmed the stitcheries back, added wadding & the backing to baby "C's" banner.

3rd project was a Christmas hanging from earlier this year. All it needed was  the wadding, backing & a little quilting.
Another cute one from Fig n Berry.

The last thing i did in my sewing room before a marathon binding session was to prep this months Snowman.

Thankyou Wendy for hosting us for FNSI. Pop over to Wendy's blog to find links to who joined in & what projects they worked on.

FNwF August

I signed up to FNwF eagerly with plans to finish a few ufo's & hopefully put my Round We Go bom together until i realised that once again my daughter's orthodontist appointment fell on sewing Friday. :( :(. By the time i do the trip in & back home it leaves me tired & little time to sew. I really need to talk to the receptionist & tell her no appointments on sewing Friday.

Sew what to do? My Grandson asked me what i was doing when they called in for a few minutes & i told him i was contemplating what i would do with my evening. Whether to do the outline stitching of my cross stitch, some EPP or find some patterns to trace out. Tracing some stitcheries won out.

I traced one of Gail Pan's designs & it won the "which will i stitch first" decision.

The other one ready to stitch is from Fig N Berry.

Such a cute little Christmas design.

Pop on over to visit with our lovely hostess Cheryll to see who joined in & what projects they worked on.

Happy Stitching,
