RSC January

Talk about leaving it to the last minute. :) :).

I rather liked the little button blocks that Fiona had made a couple of years back so i decided that for this years RSC i would make them.

Last year Pat Sloan ran a sew along using FPP kite blocks. I bought the papers but didn't end up taking part in the sew along. The rsc seemed like a good time to use the papers up. :)

Now to dig out the blue scraps for February.

Chookshed Stitchers Challenge January number 6

 I started with this

It is now a top.

Things didn't go quite right. Despite careful sewing, cutting ect it is a tad out of wack so i had to leave out the piano key border. Now i'll add it to add it to the little quilting pile for when that number is chosen. :)

The things you find.....

when cleaning & sorting through all your patchwork/quilting things. :)

I'm not sure how old these blocks are but they were a freebie bom/bow maybe between 15 to 20 years ago. :). i hadn't a clue what i was going to make with them, i just put them on my cutting table with the intention of finally getting them out of the ufo pile.

This morning as i was laying them out & choosing fabric to go with them i decided on a simple table mat rather than a hanging.

One of my numbers for the Chookshed Stitchers Challenge is to quilt up a collection of small ufo tops so i will add this to my little pile. :)

FNSI January 2025

Yesterday was FNSI hosted by Wendy

I made an early start. My project was the Zoom challenge for this month. I managed to tame those half square triangles this time for the star blocks. :)

i stopped here whilst i make a decision about the next border. I contains about 138 1-1/2" x 2" blocks. As it was hot yesterday i sure didn't feel like cutting & sewing all those. :) I pinned the little stitcheries to sew done later on in the evening.
That done i made a start on the 16 1/2" hexie flowers i need.

Hexagons

I've finished with the appliqued hexagons. I've 42 blocks so should be a nice size quilt. I've decided to snowball the blocks so I'm currently looking for a nice black fabric with a white pattern.

So happy I've finally done something with the leftover hexies. 😀

FNSI January

For the first FNSI of 2025 i was a wee bit tired after a day out tripping to Warwick to see my brother. I wanted to do some stitching but nothing to taxing. :) I started with this hexagon

All  finished

I started making more flowers. These hexagons were left over from a project so i've run out of matching hexies & are now mixing & matching.

finished one & started another

& then bed called me as i was stating to drop off to sleep. :) :)

Chookshed Stitchers Challenge is.......

......... number 6.

I started In My Garden many years ago as a stitch along. About 2-3 years back i finally gathered all the fabrics to put it together but i had issues with the 1/4 square triangles for the star blocks. Into the naughty corner it went.

Making my list for this years challenge i knew it needed to be added. Time it was moved along. :)

FNSI December

I had plans for FNSI but they went out the window so by the time i got to do any stitching it was evening :) Not to worry as i spent the day with the GC's & at least the lawn got mowed before we have more rain. :) :)

What did i stitch? Blocks for Beanie Season by Fig n Berry creations

The first block is done, i only had the beanies to do & the 2nd started.

I need to trace more out now as that was the last one. The quilt has 40 odd blocks & i only traced about half before i got tired of it. :) AND by more thread. Despite using only one strand & buying a heap of red i'm running out. :(

FNwF December

A busy day yesterday for FNwF. I started early to make up a kit i've had many, many years. Called Colour & Carry it's a handy bag for littlies for their colouring in books & pencils. Inside is 2 pockets, a large on on one side the other is split into 2.

The binding was hand sewn down in the evening.  Then onto more ladder star blocks. I'm at the half way mark now. I've been through every check/plaid fabric i had so now it's time to start again. I'll have to try not to get the same 2 fabrics together this time so my blocks look all different. :)
After mowing half the lawn, sewing down the binding i really wasn't up to anything strenuous so i grabbed out my hexie diamonds. I finished off the blue one which i'd started on Thursday night, completed another & started on a 3rd before my bed called. :)
