SSCS Gift

Finally it was opening day on Christmas Day to see what was in that wonderful parcel sent to me in the SSCS swap hosted by the lovely Chookyblue.

My beautiful gift
from Martina.  I love it. The embroidery on the bird is fabulous. Behind the bird is a pocket which held the cute notepad & pen. Sorry for the crap photo. The purples look so much better in real life.

My partner to send to was Steffi. This is what i sent her for the ornament
& for the main present

Friday Night With Friends.

Sadly not a lot happened on my Friday night stitching. Or during my week for that matter, :(
All i managed last night was to finish off the leaves on the owl stitchery & start a new one.

Pop over to our lovely hostess Cheryll for links to see what everyone got up to last night.

Last Week

Not a lot of crafting happened last week as the weather was just to hot. Sunday i made a tablerunner &  then i spent Tuesday quilting it.
It's quite large & i had difficulty in getting a decent photo of it. it was a Secret Santa gift at our Sunday Stitchers.

Also on Tuesday i cut out a pile of scraps ready to make pineapple table runners.
The result on Wednesday:
1 & 1/2 table runners done.

Even at night it's been too hot to stitch so little progress has been made on my owls. Most of what has been done since i last posted was done yesterday at Sunday Stitchers.

FNSI

I actually managed to join in yesterday for change. :) I started early. I backed, quilted & bound a gift.
Can't show it all as it is a Secret. Hand sewed the binding down last night.

I'd finished 3 stitcheries from my previous post during the week so i cut the felt for those & started stitching them together last night.
On a roll i cut out fabrics for a table runner but that is where it ends. I had a little visitor & by they time they left it was too hot to sew.
I'm going to sew it together today.

During the week i caught up on  my  pineapple blocks as well. Big marathon sewing day Tuesday.
I was here at lunch time.
& all the coloured rows added by about 9 pm. There is a lot of work there for 70 blocks. The plain row can be chain pieced which  makes it so much faster.

Wednesday saw me adding the "ears" & 2 blocks together.

I started stitching my owls during the week too.

Pop over to our lovely hostess Wendy to find links to who joined in  last night.

What i've been up to.

I didn't post last week due to illness & then being away for the weekend. I finished the dinosaurs the week before & my GS loves them.
weird little critters.

I've gotten behind on my pineapple quilt.
I should've had another coloured row added here.

This last week i've gotten the coloured row added but i'm now 2 rows behind my SIL. I need to add them by next Wednesday so we can add the rabbit ears & start sewing blocks together.
I've been doing embroidery at night. Started with this deer
but i've  put it aside for these stitcheries which i need for  a present
During the week when i prepared these i also prepared these owl stitcheries for my daughters present.
Crappy shot. Tried several times to get a good photo. They are iron on transfers that didn't go very dark & it's a dull wet day.

These already were ironed on, i just added the stabiliser at the back ready to start stitching.

Sewing Week

Sunday i thought i'd better start strippin.....
...for my pineapple quilt of course. :) Then i prepared the bit's & pieces needed for 6 ornies
The next 2 evenings were spent on those
Tuesday i was to sew the cream rows on the pineapple blocks ready for Wednesday sewing at my SIL's. Doing it this way so the quilt is done quickly.
Wednesday the scrappy borders were added,
That is all i've done with sewing this week except yesterday when i cut out these cute little fellows
We use compost in the pot plants as well as potting mix & tomatoes came up in quite a few pots. I let them go to see what i'd get
large, cherry & egg tomatoes have fruited. So many tomatoes have formed which makes me happy. So tasty as well.

A sew sew week

I think my sewjo has headed off to have a holiday. Wish it would come back & take me with it. :) All i did this week was
finish this gingie,
& made a start on the last 4 blocks in Jenny's free Xmas bom.

Wednesday i spent all day add the next round to 70 pineapple blocks
Thinking i should have made a smaller quilt. :) Need to cut & sew more strips now to catch up to my SIL for next Wesdnesday.

No FNSI for me.

I had plans, big plans for sewing yesterday but i was so tired all i did was read. I hoped to do some embroidery last night but went to bed instead. :(

During the week i did finish another Gingie & started the 4th
My SIL & i for sometime have been going to make a pineapple log cabin. All the fabric has been collected for months & months & finally she names a day to start.
This i where i got to Wednesday afternoon when i went home. 35 square in a square made, 1 complete block & a partial block done. I still had 37 squares to cut out to make up to 72 blocks. I did all those on Thursday. Now to turn all those square in squares into pineapple log cabins. Gonna be a big quilt. Blocks are 10".

quilt retreat

The weekend of the 3rd & 4th i attended a mystery quilt retreat. All we knew was fabric amounts to buy in 3 colours. When we arrived Saturday morning we were given our 1st sheet to start making blocks.
9 patches was the first sheet, 2nd sheet the flying geese then the retreat co-ordinator put her block on display to show us how the block went together.

Sunday the 3rd sheet was to make the square in a square & the 4th sheet the 3 triangle block. Then the co-ordinators block was again displayed to show us how it went together.
By leaving time i'd only managed 10 blocks of number 1 & 2 blocks of number 2. We've to make 18 of 1 & 17 of 2. Others had half a quilt put together of the 35 blocks. You can see when they are put together there is a secondary pattern.

This was a far a i got by 5 pm Sunday
The little pile on the right is block 1 pieces. The rest is for block 2. No borders were included. I've worked out my borders & have bought the extra fabric needed for them.

I didn't have a lot of sewjo last week. Mostly read but i did finish this gingie.

My Week

Little sewing early in the week except embroidery. Wednesday was a different prospect altogether. It was the day to tackle the final 4 borders for Natures Journey before the end of September deadline in the SAL. Unfortunately it is only a top & not quilted. :(
By 2:30 when i'd finished sewing for the day i'd added the 9_patch borders which i'd sewn together that morning & the pieced applique borders. Nothing on TV that night so at 6:30 i decided to machine sew rather than embroider & added the last 2 borders. By 9:30 i had a quilt top.

Friday i worked on the last blocks for my Bonnie & Camille Sampler swap. The 2 September blocks had to be done & whist there i figured i do the 1 for October & post it as well. With 12 people in the swap we each had 11 blocks & 1 to make for ourselves so i whipped up my block as well.
I realised Friday was the 25th & i hadn't finished my Xmas project. The embroidery had been done for quite a while so i set to & completed the little project.
Friday i had received the last block in the Bonnie & Camille sampler swap & i thought to myself "don't put these away, turn them into a quilt tomorrow". So i did. Here's my Saturday sewing

I did think of making more blocks for a bigger quilt but i knew darn well if i put them away it would be ages & ages before i ever made the blocks & the quilt.

Also on Saturday i made 6 tags for fat 1/4 birthday presents.
Traced out these embroideries

The bottom 2 are from Jenny's free Christmas stitchery. The top stitchery is for a friends 70th birthday quilt which the them is teapots & here it is
During the week i also worked on these little ornaments.
Maybe i'll have them ready early for posting on the 25th of next month on the 1 item blog. :)

Happy Stitching,

Teeny weeny things.

The tiny bug has bitten. :) :). I saw a post on IG yesterday about making diamond hexies with 3/8th" hexies. Hmm i have some of those ...
