Today i figured i'd better get cracking on the RSC blocks before February completely disappears. Not sure where the month has gone. :( February is not the best month for me as it is the month both my parents passed. Dad 10 years ago & Mum 1 year ago. Yesterday was Mum's birthday & she would've been 92.
I made the 6 bow tie blocks
and followed them with 6 churn dash blocks
I've been contemplating for a while making a basket quilt using these two shapes. One has a diamond centre the other an oval centre. Yesterday i made a test block to see how it would go. I traced the shape onto the front of the fabric & then tacked it to the background. It took me ages to tuck the seam allowance under neatly. I wanted to try this method out before cutting backgrounds & baskets. I think i'll go back to the freezer paper/starch method i usually use.
I'll use this little block as a label.

My FNSI wasn't busy as i had hoped. :( There were roadworks outside of my home all night Thursday & my bedroom overlooks the street. All i heard all night was the trucks moving up & down, the reverse beeping, walkie talkies & then there was the flashing light. I was that tired i wasn't risking using the rotary cutter or trying to sew.
Just a little embroidery in the evening. I'm up to block 21 of my bom. only 3 blocks to go YAY.

& got up to here by bedtime
As i'd finished the hand quilting over the weekend it was time to get the binding on & get the doll quilt in the mail.
I hope the lady likes it.
After getting more squares ready the other day i found an empty basket to keep my project in as i'm sewing it. I left it on the cutting table & came back later to this.
Darn cat. I can't leave anything around. :) :)

I chose this UFO to work on
I made all the quarter square triangle blocks but discovered some weren't the right size. Not sure what went wrong as i was careful with my sewing. I'm thinking my 1/4" foot is needing to be replaced. I'll find another use for that little stack of blocks & try & make more today. Hopefully with better luck. :)
It was just to hot yesterday to try to keep sewing. :( Around 38 degrees celcius with a lot of humidity.
Later in the evening i picked up the doll quilt to finish quilting the borders
All i needed to do was quilt from halfway down red stip on the right side, the corner block, along the green strip & then the last corner block on the left. As you can see i just have a small bit to go. Yay i should be able to post it off to the USA next week,
