Chookshed Stitchers

Yesterday Chooky hosted a Chookshed Bithday Zoom  to celebrate having her shed for 10 years Ladies from Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Germany, Norway, USA & England all popped in.

The other day i had  one of my ufo's out to stitch together. I already knew there was a slight problem with the sizes. Stuff up number one - i didn't cut the blocks larger than what the size said. I should've remembered that this designer doesn't give larger cutting size to cut back. The blocks weren't to badly out or so i thought. Well they didn't play nice when sewn together. I tried cutting back a little to see if that would help. A big fat NO. So i pondered a while & decided to cut them an 1" shorter all round. The finished hanging would be smaller but all the blocks would still fit the layout.

Thursday saw me trimming back. All was going fine or so i thought when i had about 3 or 4 blocks left of 23. Stuff up number 2-  there are 2 blocks each in rows 2 & 4 are cut on a 3/4" line & i merrily cut them all that way when i suddenly realised the rest blocks should measure 7" by 9" not 7" x 8-3/4". Damn

Friday saw me tracing out the 10 incorrect cut blocks & start to restitch them.

Saturday on Zoom i finished the first one

& the next started

as each one is done i'm going to make sure i cut them to the right size.

3 little finishes

I'd stitched these earlier in the month though the one on the bag front could've been stitched back in April. :)

First finish yesterday was the little hanging by Petal & Patches

2nd finish was supposed to be a pouch with a zipper in the top. First attempt i put it in the wrong way & despite careful unpicking the fabrics frayed a little. Tried again but the fabric just kept slipping. The choice throw it in the naughty corner or turn it into something else because the fraying was getting bad. Hmm bag it is.

Since it came as a kit to make a pouch there wasn't enough for bag handles. I hunted through my blues until i found some fabric that i hoped went with the Liberty print.

Last was to make up the Marg Low Designs pattern which i stitched last Zoom session.

FNSI May

My FNSI was quiet, just a wee bit of embroidery on my latest stitching project.

I finished the fence posts, window boxes, pots, chimneys, hearts on the house & berries in backstitch & then started filling the hearts & berries in with stain stitch.

Thankyou Wendy for running FNSI again. Pop over here to see who joined in

FNwF May

Hosted by Cheryll yesterday was Friday Night with Friends. I had plans but by the time i walked up to the chemist got my flu shot & a few things at the shops all i wanted to do was have a nanny nap. lol

I found this little kit the other day i'd forgotten about. Time to get it stitched up as i think i bought it several years ago.

Thankyou Cheryll for hosting us again.

zoom, zoom, zoom

Chookyblue called a Zoom meeting at short notice for yesterday. I popped in around 8am i think it was stitching in hand ready to chat & stitch the day away. Funny thing is there was very little chatting all day until later on Sunday night :)

I started off with the Summer stitchery

I made it this far by about lunchtime & after that i decided to do some EPP.

I completed this row & started another before we finished up Zoom about 10-10:30pm

It was lovely to sit, sew & "chat" with ladies from all over the world & Australia. Thankyou Chookyblue for a lovely day. Look forward to the next one.

Happy Stitching,
