My sewing week.

I started preparing June blocks for Natures Journey
& aside from stitching those i did little sewing for the week. Being out for the count 2 days with a migraine of course doesn't allow for anything whatsoever.

Saturday i traced these out
well on the left are Michelle's Gingies for a table topper & the right is Wendy's latest BOF stitchery. I hadn't planned on starting anything new but it's all Shez's fault i traced the Gingies out.

Sunday morning saw me sewing the 1-1/2" blocks together for NJ's last 2 blocks which i completed last night
Next on the list was to add borders to the 50th birthday quilt
Running out of time for anymore sewing as i was going to a linen party i put the borders on this Christmas stitchery by Natalie Bird
And a finish.... the borders of which i added yesterday also, the ribbon & buttons last night then framed it.
I turned Teresa's lovely binder pattern into a hanging. To finish my evening i added a few more stitches to this....
Another Natalie Bird Christmas stitchery.

Retreat, Sewing & FNSI

Finally made it to retreat after lunch of Friday & thought to myself  "must check that the machine foot hasn't fallen out". Talking to my daughter as i get stuff out of boot got distracted & didn't check. Just as well she hadn't gone far when i unpacked machine & could call her to bring the foot back. The blasted foot had fallen out. Only in the last few kilometres as we got out of the car in the town near retreat to have lunch, took pram out of boot & it wasn't loose then. Grrr.

First thing to work on was my blocks for Bonnie & Camille Sampler swap.
At night i worked on this
This was 2 nights work adding the green. The first night i went to bed early. Saturday i put this together
My 50th birthday quilt is now together. I just have to add the border fabric now i've bought it. Sunday i completed 4 blocks of this quilt before lunch & then it was pack up time.
The other 4 i did Wednesday. 4 more to go along with sashing & borders & my son has a quilt top. I'm just hoping it won't take me as long to turn it into a quilt as it did for me to finally sew it together. It's bee cut out for maybe 9 years. :)

FNSI saw me heading to the shops for fabric
also bag of buttons for $2 & ric rac for a project. The black & red are for the quilt above. I didn't really need it as i bought all the fabric & extra years ago but figured just in case it isn't big enough now for a queen size i'd better have the extra fabric. :) The lavender & the white are border & backing fabrics for the birthday quilt.

After the fabric shopping i just dithered around, decided it would be a good idea to get started on changing the book cases around. Now i have to wait until my new one is put together to get my books off the floor. Maybe it wasn't such a brilliant idea to get a head start. Sew did i sew anything for FNSI? Darn right i did.
I finished the last bit of embroidery in this Christmas stitchery then added more green squares to my Trip Around the World.
Pop over & visit Wendy our lovely hostess to find out what other ladies who joined in last night worked on.

My week in patchwork.

I actually finished this little stitchery last week
Number 6 in Jenny's free BOM The Vintage Kitchen. I needed to get started on Wendy's free BOF Friends before she released the next one. I just made it. got up this morning to discover she had released it. :)
Finished these 2 Wednesday night &
& these 3 last night. Earlier in the week i made these 4 blocks
for the 6" sampler stitch a long.

Laying out my birthday quilt blocks ready to sew at retreat & found i may need a few extra blocks for the layout i want so i made these Wednesday.
I also cut out these strips for the birthday quilt
I went with the cream & yes it does work.

I cut out these 2" yesterday
 for this

My hand pieced Trip Around the World. Wednesday i also cut out the pieces for my next 2 blocks in the Bonnie & Camille Sampler blocks swap.
Off to retreat today. Enjoy your weekend because i certainly will.

Friday Night with Friends

I started out my FNwF cooking. First i made a cake called Princess Elizabeth
then a gingerbread slice with lemon icing
After cooking it was off to the sewing room to work on 2 stitcheries i'd been having a hard time deciding what to do with. I didn't want to make them into what the designers had originally made. I've turned one into a hanging so it's a finish. Yay 1st finish for June. :)
the 2nd will also be a hanging rather than a binder cover
I made the reels yesterday after noon. The tulle, lace around reels & the reels were added last night. Just a few decorations to be added when i sew the borders on then into a frame. After than is was onto the 3rd stitchery of Wendy's free BOM.
I finished stitching "sharing". Time for bed then for me. :) Pop over & visit our very lovely hostess Cheryll to find the links to see what other stitchers worked on last night.

Sunday Stitching

I had a lovely day out stitching with the ladies at Sunday Stitcher's. Lots of chatting, laughter & food. I worked on my Rosalie Quinlan stitchery
My cooking on Saturday resulted in these - butterfly cupcakes & red velvet cupcakes
It's been a lovely weekend sewing along with Chookyblue celebrating her Chooksheds birthday.

Happy Stitching,

#4 Chookshed Stitchers Challenge.

At the start of March i had this pile of blocks. I couldn't get my head around how to turn all these differing block sizes into a quilt...
