EPP

Over the last couple of weeks, on & off, i've been working on putting Icecream Soda together. Last night i finished row 2 & started adding it to row 1 to see how they looked together. Not to bad i think.
I also finished the Mandolin block. Still trying to decide if i'll do this BOM. I have so many other EPP projects to do though so maybe i'll pass. I'm behind by 2 months on my Round We Go BOM so i need to catch it up without adding more projects to my already long list. :)

FNSI December

Where has the year gone????? Last night was the last FNSI for 2017 hosted by the very lovely Wendy.

Recently as a way of thanking her customers Jodi offered 200 lucky people a free Mandolin block which is her new BOM for 2018. Signups start January the 3rd if anyone is interested.

I was one of the lucky ones to get a block to try out. Last night i dug through my scrap bag looking for suitable pieces that went together. Then there was the cutting & prepping. Finally the sewing.
Even though they are really big pieces it still takes a while to sew together, Not sure what i'll do with the block when i'm done. Maybe turn it into a cushion.

Pop over to Wendy's blog for links to see who joined in & what projects they worked on.

A birthday gift.

Now that it has been received i can show you what that sneaky peek was. I made my friend Sheila a needle case with the " S" i embroidered a while back & a matching project folder.

A little Finish

Several years back i stitched up 6 Christmas blocks from Wendy. I had put them away & totally forgot all about them until recently. I was digging through a crate for something else & discovered them.Wendy had designed a stitchery that went across the ends which i hadn't stitched but i wanted to make something up with the little stitcheries so they didn't sit around again for several years.

Sadly as i was trimming i went a little to far over on 1 of them & had to leave it out as the stitched part went under the 1/4 " seam. Guess that comes from trying to do things quickly by stacking them instead of trimming back each block individually.

Here is what i created.
I took a photo of each side so the stitcheries can be seen.
To much morning glare even though the blind is shut.

2 more done

2 more quilts arrived back from Fiona Saturday. Yesterday i did the binding on both. Not to self  "do not bind 5 quilts in 3 days". It's bad for the osteo arthritis in my fingers/hands.

My hand pieced Trip Around The World & closeup of the beautiful quilting.

This one is from a paper piecing pack by Sue Daley. I bought it as a ufo on a destash site & i kept going hoping i'd use up all the fabrics the lady had cut. I still have green octagons left, i had to find up similar plain white fabric & was short 2 pinks so i added what i could find in my stash to blend in.

Finished Quilts

These quilts have been waiting several months for the binding & despite the heat i sewed the bindings on Saturday morning & then proceeded to hand sew them down. I managed 1 quilt Saturday & 3/4's of the 2nd. I finished it & the 3rd last night. Now to bind the 2 quilts that arrived back from Fabulous Fiona on Saturday.

Ist quilt is Applique From The Guest House By Sue Daley. Followed by closeups of the beautiful quilting

The next quilt is Gossip In The Garden By Anni Downs of Hatched & Patched with closeups of several patterns Fiona used to quilt it.

3rd quilt is from several years back run as a quilt along on a friends blog called Charming Stars & another closeup of the quilting.

Busy, busy week

Enough is enough i told myself this week, time to dredge up some desire to machine sew. I finished a number of things.
Advent calender for my youngest grandson, late i know.
His Christmas stocking. After that these 2 stitcheries

Both by Natalie Bird of The Birdhouse Designs. I really love these Christmas stitcheries Natalie puts out every year.

Next day i was back at it to finished off more projects
An Annie Downs of Hatched & Patched stitchery
A Gail Pan stitchery. It is supposed to be a cushion with a frame of triangles around the stitched part but i just went for a simple hanging. Next i finished my grandsons name swag.
The cute pattern is from Michelle Ridgway of Rag Tag Stitchin'.

I had hoped to get binding on 3 quilts next before the next arrive back but it's been a wee bit hot & orthodontist appointments had to be seen to.

Wednesday & Thursday afternoon/evening saw me cutting & gluing the joining pieces for Icecream Soda. There is over 400 pieces in this bag.
Last night i made a start on joining the blocks up
I think i'm going to be here a while as it's very slow going. Well i'm off to try & get those bindings on the quilts.

Just a little sewing

Not a lot happening here this week. Some secret sewing
it's a gift for a friend so that's all i can show until she gets it.

Also i pieced 2 backings to send 2 quilts off to my fabulous quilter to work her magic but i didn't think you need to see a photo of the backings :)

I worked on my Coffin quilt
Not sure how many rows i added to the left side & top. Maybe 2 or 3 rows to each. But it is growing slowly.

This pattern arrived yesterday
so i made a start. :)
I love Natalie Bird's Christmas patterns & she has just released this one.

Fat 1/4 birthday swap

The very lovely Cheryll hosted a fat 1/4 swap this year which i was fortunate to be part of. Well my turn finally arrived yesterday & along with beautiful fat 1/4's & extra's was a beautiful handmade gift from Cheryll. Each of us was assigned an individual partner to make a handmade gift to send along with fat 1/4's.
Fat 1/4's from Julie, Anthea, Asta, Illene, Simone, Cheryll,  Sue thankyou for the lovely fat 1/4's & the extra goodies. Can't wait to make some cupcakes from the cookbook Anthea. :) Love the handmade card Illene.
My handmade gift from Cheryll. The fabric to the side is what Cheryll used to back the little hanging with & it has cat's all over it. Cute cat buttons too. :) :). Love the hanging Cheryll thanks ever so much.

FNSI November & my busy week.

I started my FNSI by adding the last 3 rosettes to another Purpilicious row. I decided to add another row before adding borders as it wasn't long enough for my bed.
Then i added it to the quilt
After that i finished off a flower for my Libby Morgan quilt & made a 2nd

During the week i cut out the pieces for Purplicious
& sewed them together
Stitched a Gail Pan Christmas stitchery
finished the Purplicious row
& finished of 100 hexagons in 100 days which is actually 200 as i did 2 different lots. Bright & reproduction.

Pop over to visit our lovely hostess Wendy to find the links to who participated last night & what projects they worked on.

Busy week

I needed to make a little gift for a friend so i whipped up a stitchery from Michelle's country alphabet to go on it.
Next i caught up with my 100 days of hexies, 84 to 92. We must be finished now so i'd better do the last 8 up.
I made a pile more hexies for Libby Morgan
I've spent several days now turning them into flowers
Every year for a number of years i've been buying myself a Jim Shore Christmas ornament. Sometimes 1 sometimes 2. This is my choice for this year.
I love the Woodland series.

Happy Stitching,

#4 Chookshed Stitchers Challenge.

At the start of March i had this pile of blocks. I couldn't get my head around how to turn all these differing block sizes into a quilt...
