Project pouch

A few friends & i had been doing round robins & swaps many years ago & as time passed we had stopped. Fast forward to 2020 & a new round robin was started. After we did that a member of our little group suggest we send an orphan block to make something out of & then that would be sent along to the next person. Well after a trip around the world my creation finally arrived in Canada.

This is the orphan block i was sent. I added borders to make it larger.

and the reverse side.

This is what i received in our orphan block swap

A lovely pillow cover.

FNSI February.

Yesterday was FNSI time hosted by Wendy I started early making my week seven blocks for the schoolgirl sampler sew along. I should take a photo of all the fabrics i drag out looking for the "perfect" one for each block. I end up surrounded by little piles. :)

Just in time for the next six to be made. :)

It was recommended to us to make up six half square triangles each week as well for one of the borders. It needs 92. I hadn't been but decided i'd better get a move on with them.  I started cutting out a pile of squares then sewed them all until i ran out of squares & made a count. I had made 46 which is half of the amount need & 2 ahead of where i would have been if i'd been making the 6 a week. :)

After all that sewing & going out looking at a house as we have to move it was time for some relaxing hand sewing.

I worked on my Karma quilt.

I added the chocolate hexagons around the centre, added it to the row & then sewed the red row around.

Karma quilt so far. Then i made up more of the pale hexagons ready for the next row

and sewed a flower with them.

That was my day. Pop over here to find links to who joined in last night.

Karma Quilt

I may have started something new. :)  Collector With  A Needle has shared a free pattern for a quilt called Karma made from hexagons. I've 1 rosette made so far.

I'm using 1/2" hexagons to make mine. Pattern can be found here.

Schoolgirl Sampler week 6

Wednesday i delved into my reproduction cupboard to choose fabrics for this weeks blocks. Once chosen i then cut them all out ready to sew. Today was the day to make up the 6 little 4-1/2" blocks.

Just in time for the  to get ready for the next 6 blocks in the sewalong.

And i may have purchased these beautiful fabrics by Michelle Yeo to add to my quilt as borders & cornerstones. :)

They are part of a range called Tarrytown.

FNwF February

Thankyou Cheryll for hosting FNwF again for us that like to stitch along on these Friday nights. There were 22 including me. Sadly my stitching was a bit of a bust. I only manage to stitch a little around this

before a migraine sent me to bed.

Pop over to Cheryll's blog to see who joined in & the chosen projects that were worked on

Schoolgirl Sampler Blocks

I'm not sure where last week went but i didn't get near my sewing machine at all except to look at it sitting forlornly waiting for me. :) So i had gotten behind with my 4-1/2" sampler blocks. I spent several hours yesterday cutting out the 12 blocks for weeks 4 & 5. Today was spent sewing them together.

Week 4

Week 5

I may change that blue floral yet. I'll see how it works with all the other blocks first.

Kind of felt like this looking through my reproduction fabric cupboard. :) :).
