They shall grow not old,
as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them,
nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun
and in the morning
We will remember them.
We will remember them
Lest we forget

Years back i saw Linda Collins Panama Pyramids quilt & foolishly thought i'd like to make one so bought the templates
Fast forward & i spotted on Instagram 2 ladies i follow making the blocks. Feeling a bit inspired i found up the templates & my basket of scrap repro fabrics & set to. Quick to cut out but takes me a little time to handpiece. :) I've made 2 over 2 nights. lol.Maybe i'll just cut out the larger joining triangles & turn it into a doll quilt. :) :). I really don't see me making a large quilt but you just never know. lolWhat to do next, put together one of the tops that has been cut out for quite a while or the ladder star blocks. Ladder star blocks for the win. These 2 had been cut out for a while
Having made the hexie block the night before it was time to put the top together. It took a bit longer than i wanted as somehow i mixed up the rows that i had laid out so there was a bit of unpicking going on. :). It was neatly ironed but i found a few of the seams going the wrong way so more unpicking & resewing.
Christmas 2023 my daughter gave me a ruler to make twisted log cabin blocks which i hadn't touched at all. After wrangling with the hexie quilt i wanted something easy to do so i made a couple of test blocks. They were quick & easy.
I started with 4 of these fat 1/4's
turned them into thesemarked them like thisThen proceeded to make this(rows need to be sewn together)only to discover i either can't count or i lost one. Fortunately i still had some hexies left so i whipped up anotherready to finish the top today. I'm on the fence though about adding a border..Just a short day yesterday as i have things to do in the morning. :)
Searched the fabric cupboard hoping i would find pieces large enough for border fabric & then audition those pieces. Fabric chosen it was time to cut & sew.
The evening i was back to my stitching. The red is finished. Just the green beanies to do.I'll be glad when these are done. There is 42 blocks in the quilt & i have 8 left to do.made a start reasonably early. Fist projects were the red blocks for Aprils RSC.
Potato Chip
Buttonsand kitesI'm joining with Susan in Claytons Scrub Stitchin'. Deciding what to make over the next few days was hard as there is so many things to finish on my pile. :)
So i'll start with
RSC blocks for April.
work on Aprils Chookshed challenge
some quilts i'd like to get at least into tops
& if i have time 1 of the patterns i cut out 2 years back for the actual scrub stitchin' retreat i didn't end up getting to.
Off now to start my sewing retreat.
Happy stitching
When my brother moved last year i inherited his late wife's orchids. Orchids & i usually don't get along but so far i've manged to keep them alive. :)
One i had to repot & crossed fingers when doing so(that it would survive) i recently noticed buds on it. It has bloomed into a lovely white flower.
Another orchid is hanging under the kitchen window & as i was walking inside a week or so ago i noticed a splash of colour. Stepped back out & discovered it also was ready to bloom which it did the next day into lovely mauve flowers. And now the frog. Went to go into the bathroom last night & before i turned on the light i noticed something on the loo seat. Hmm did i drop something earlier on ? Umm no it was a rather lovely looking green tree frog chilling out on the lid. :)Bloody heck frog best get you out before the cats find you. Fortunately he was very cooperative & i could get him outside quick smart where upon being set free he climbed up the hanging plants pole to the orchids & pots i have there. I've no idea how he got inside & hopefully he'll stay out.It was FNwF yesterday & i started the day by cutting out the red blocks for RSC.
.......number 4.
For me that is a needlecase i started many years ago. :) All that i did was the paper pieced parts
Since that is just a small project i have added 3 other small projects which i paper pieced & embroidered last month.I've been making up a Lucy block every now & again for a while so when i finished one the other night i thought i'd better do a...
