finishes & things

During the week i worked on the robes i mentioned cutting out in the previous post. I got all 3 done in time to hand them to the people wanting them.
Not hard to make just time consuming. Saturday i went on a day trip out to to Toogoolawah. Our patchwork group was meeting up in the backyard of a member of the Toogoolawah patchwork group. A very lovely day out despite the freezing wind. One of the ladies had a trailor full of patchwork goodies to look at. I picked up a couple of gadgets & buttons.
After lunch we all then went to a patchwork shop in a shed on someone's property.  All i bought there were some boxes for my DMC threads. Sunday back to cooking. :)
Lumberjack cake,
fantail muffins,
Tim Tam balls. So yummy. Today i finally finished my runner which was supposed to be done for 1 Xmas item a month. Better late than never.

Busy Weekend

Saturday i made a double batch of chilli relish. As the first batch only made 2 bottles i wasn't expecting the 2nd batch to make 6 but that is what i got.
Whilst that was cooking i started cutting out the pieces to make cloaks. I have 3 to make this week. Sunday i cut out the 3rd cloak, made blood orange butter,
the blood oranges,
next up was jersey caramel muffins,
followed by a banana slice
These cute little owl cupcakes were made by my daughter for her sister.

One Flower Wednesday.

It's been a while since i posted about my Vignette hexagon progress. I'm slowly working my way through them.
I made these 4 last night.
All the hexagons i've made so far. Thanks Karen for running one flower Wednesday's. I was asked would i make chilli relish so yesterday was spent making it up.

cooking & sewing.

I started Saturday off cooking. Made the custard for these
I then made scones but didn't get a photo of those. :) Then onto making these
red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese frosting. The cooking finished it was time to sew. The first 2 items were ufo's that should have been finished last month.
Christmas Joys by Gail Pan. Next ufo
Michelle's Irish Blessing & 1 last owl project which wasn't a ufo. I cut it out Friday ready to sew but ran out of time to work on it.
Dear Diary, a diary & notebook cover by Joypatch.

No sewing or cooking today. Off to the markets at Boggo Road & then following that with wine tasting at our local Dan Murphy's.  Have a great Day.

Friday Night Sew-In

Instead of just sewing Friday night for the sew-in i decided i'd make a start Friday morning. I didn't get as much done as i hoped. :(
I started with making these 2 cushion covers.
I used leftover scraps from the cushion covers for the pincushion. next to be worked on was this wallhanging,
& a close-up of the verse
I spent the night stuffing the pincushion, quilting around the owl & sewing the binding down. The only other things i managed yesterday was ready 3 projects to work on today. :)

9/07/2012

I joined Cheryll's Santa Sack swap again this year & this is the sack i sent my partner Kaye.

Some goodies i've bought lately are
Gypsy Girl & Marmalade fabrics &
Red Home by Natalie Bird & her pincushion pattern. Bella is a funny cat does all sorts of strange things. My daughter put her cup of water on the table the other night & turned away to get her tea. The cat jumped onto the table & stuck her head straight into the cup to have a drink.
Naughty puss. She knows she's not to be on the table & not to drink from the cups. The cats like to sleep in places they shouldn't. A basket of wash was put on the floor & they thought it was for them.
I recently made vanilla bean custard & that left me with egg whites. What's a girl to do but make this
Yummy pavlova. mmmmm.

Happy Stitching,

FNSi March

was last night. My project was the little Christmas stitcheries i've been plodding along with. The one on the left had the satin stitch...
