Owl & Hare Hollow month 3.

 Last night i put the last stitch in the blocks for month 3. So much work & month 4 isn't any better. :)

The owl i did buttonhole stitch again. Eyes & beak are satin stitch.

The circles are machine pieced & then appliqued to the background.

 Things didn't go according to plans. :) I thought i'd better actually finish the 4 little projects from April Chookshed challenge. Yeh i know but better late than never.

 First up was this tiny needlecase

Curse of a thing to sew into the handle. I had to bend the needle to try & get it through those holes. Which took me way longer to sew than i thought. Oh i recommend not using iron on hexies. They came with the pattern so i thought i would use them up. Should've chucked them in the bin.

The next project did end up in the bin. Iron on hexies for the back of the scissor holder made it to stiff to fold over the wadding plus it had to be trimmed into a certain shape & in a spot or 2 very little seam to turn over. Lack of directions didn't help. 

The other project, is on hold as it is to be sewn into a handle which i didn't look forward to. :). My fingers have holes where they didn't before. :)

Moving along to the 4th project was this sewing folder.

It needed the quilting done & the rather costly magnet added.

Owl & Hare Hollow month 2

 Thanks to Netflix having so much choice to watch i've been spending afternoon/evenings stitching up these blocks. All these blocks are paper pieced then sewn down by applique. The large circles are cut out of 4 squares sewn together then appliqued. The rabbit is buttonhole stitched.

and i made a start on month 3 last night. :)

Rainbow Scrap Challenge for June.....

 is brought to you by the colour orange,

Hmm terrible photo as some of the oranges look brown & some pink. 

I was really scratching to find orange scraps. I have a tub full of fabrics that i'm selling off & found several orange fat1/4's in there i could use. :) They'll be chopped up into the crazy log cabins i'm making.

June Chookshed Challenge is.......

 ........number 5. Schoolgirl sampler gets a look in again & hopefully will be top this time. Here is where i left it last year when it ended up in the naughty corner.

despite careful sewing & cutting things just weren't fitting together as they should. As i had a heap of blocks left to make & the centre last year the last thing i felt like doing was remaking those small blocks so hence the naughty corner. :)
