More flowers

This weeks blocks for the scrappy sew along are pieced flowers. The leaf part nearly went to the naughty corner before a light bulb moment but not before there was a bit of fabric wasted. Ah well all part & parcel of learning new things. Luckily though the pieces were only little. :)

I had totally forgotten it was FNSI yesterday until i saw a post on FB pop up. Sew what did i do for FNSI ?  I finished making up these tiny tumbling blocks. The diamonds are 3/4"

and started sewing them together to make a tiny quilt.

Owl & hare Hollow

Yesterday was spent adding the final borders to Owl & Hare Hollow. I started the stitcheries back in 2023 when the BOM came out in Homespun. I think i only did about 6 then abandoned the project. Last year i dragged it out & did all the blocks. A couple days ago i trimmed all the blocks & chopped up strips for the strippy borders. Today i can finally say it's a flimsy. It's not perfect by any means but i'm calling it DONE.

When i walk to the shops i pass a couple of agaves & have been watching them shoot up the flower spikes. They have flowered & i remembered to take photo's. :) The spikes a really tall.

Happy Stitching.

Beanie Season

Thursday after making the flower blocks i cut out all the sashing pieces i needed to turn Beanie Season into a flimsy. I'm not sure when i started stitching the little blocks but is quite a few years back, stopped & then started again last year & completed them all.

Pattern Beanie Season is  Fig "n" Berry Creations pattern.

FNwF February

My day started early making the next blocks for the sew along. what should have been a fairly quick make took way longer than it should've. I made so many mistakes but i got there in the end. :) Jack(the ripper) & i were to good of friends by the end. lol. I really hope the next set doesn't have teeny tiny pieces.

After a break i finished off the stitchery on the stockings. They are now ready to put together.
Then i dragged out my 1/2" hexies. I finished 1 & prepped another

Little Buttons

Another of my rainbow scrap challenge blocks is a flimsy. I made the little buttons for rsc2025. Again i was 2 months short but went with the 48 i had. They measure 3 1/2" finished. The original quilt had over a 100 pieced blocks but i was not interested in playing around with anymore tiny pieces, i just wanted it done.

Potato Chip Quilt

I started placing the potato chip blocks (RSC2025) on the floor to work out the layout i wanted but someone thought i needed help

Despite her "help" i realised i would need another 2 blocks. Luckily they are quick to cut out & piece together. That done i found up the silver/grey homespun in my stash & set to cutting sashings & borders
I'm happy to have another top done.

Scrappy sew along week 2

This weeks blocks for the sew along are cactus blooms

Only 2 blocks this week thankfully as those pieces are small. :)

I also made up the last 2 potato chip blocks from rsc 2025
Now to decide how i want the quilt to look.

UFO's part 2

Another of the projects from rainbow scrap challenge 2024 was the applique baskets. They too were short the amount i figured on as i only did 8 months worth not 10 & again no real plan in mind.  I did think of putting them on point but as i wanted a quick finish(again) :) i just went with leaving them side on. Raided the stash for any big pieces i could find for borders.

Now that RSC 2024 are out of the way i need to turn the 2025 blocks into flimsies. :) :)

My visitor early yesterday morning
I noticed the Kookie sitting there when feeding the cats & asked very nicely to wait while i went to get my phone. So pleased when i came back to find Kookie still there.

UFO's

One of my projects from RSC 2024 was making circles. Yesterday they made it into a quit top.

I wasn't sure when i started making the circles how i would put it together. In the end i only had 48 circles & they measured 5" unfinished. They weren't wide enough for a quilt & i didn't want to make more. I just wanted this ufo done. A quick search produced the blue fabric which was big enough to make the top up. It is just big enough now for a lap quilt. Yay me another ufo done & now on the "to be quilted" pile. :)

Zoom Day

Yesterday Chooky had a Zoom day going & i was fortunate o be able to join in. :) The morning i spent on my sashiko panel. I managed to get quite a bit done.

After lunch i cut a pile of hexagons & started to sew the next row of Mrs Holder's Hexagons.
Another lovely day of chatting & stitching was had.

FNWF January

Did i need to make a new start? No but i did seeing as this panel arrived yesterday. :) I'm using the dreaded lame thread seeing as i bought 4 skeins & only used 1-1/2 on the last large panel.

2 baubles done & started on the bow

Thankyou Wendy for hosting us again this year.

Although Cheryll is now only hosting FNSI on Facebook now i'll still do a post on here. Project of choice was the large Sashiko panel. I've only the deer laying down & a few snowflakes left.

i stitched around he antlers, around the head & made a start on the bells before bed called me
i was trying to take a photo this morning & apparently i needed a photobomber. :)

Zoom zoom NYD 2026

Yesterday i finally managed to make it to a Zoom stitching day. :) :) It was so lovely to catch up with the lovely ladies. My stitching project was a rather large sashiko panel had started before Christmas.

I stitched across the bottom, a branch beside the deer i had missed, the eye & started the tree in the middle. I am using this thread

It has a lovely sparkle to it with the silver thread but sadly it's a curse to work with. I didn't know how much thread i would need so i bought 4 to be on the safe side but 2 would've been enough as i haven't even finished the first one yet. Ah well i have 2 more sashiko panels coming so i can use them on those.

Happy Stitching,
