Baking Day

Sunday now seems to be my baking day for the week. Somehow i'd ended up with a pile of overripe banana's again. So out came the recipe books. I did find a recipe a few days ago online for banana & choc chip muffins.
These are all that's left after the kids got into them. The recipe says it makes 12 muffins but i found the batter makes about 18. Whilst they were cooking i made this
fruit salad chiffon pie. They don't make the pie shells the same shape they used to. The recipe used to fill 2 pies shells but now i'm also filling 2 ramekins with the leftover filling. Next up was a banana & pecan slice. I threw the extra choc chips left over from the banana muffins in as well.
Iced with a mocha icing. Just delicious. Couldn't decide on a final banana recipe so i asked the guinea pigs kids what they'd like. Banana bread was chosen.
I had some rhubarb that needed using up. I made an apple & rhubarb cake.
That lot ought to keep them happy for the week.  :)

FNSI, Labne & a swap

Friday night i took part in this months FNSI run by Heidi. First project i worked on was to repair my daughter's skirt. She came to me quite a while back asking if i could repair her favourite skirt. Only way i could hide the tear was some applique. But what sort & what fabric? I think she gave the skirt to me about the time i bought the Baby Go. I got the Baby Go out Friday & cut the flowers. That was fun. I followed the instructions to a T or so i thought. The darn thing wouldn't roll through at all. Even my daughter tried. At whit's end as to why it wouldn't work & putting the 3 pieces back together(cutter, fabric & mat) i turned the mat around only to discover( by accident) the damn Baby Go likes the printed end of the mat to go through the machine first not the blank end.
2 flowers needed to cover the tear. Luckily i had an old child's dress that was suitable for the applique colourwise. 2nd project i worked on was this
Didn't think i'd show you all of it did you? Just a sneaky peek until the recipient gets it. I also finished the stitching on this. It's drying now after rinsing the tracing pen out.
Yesterday i took the Labne from the fridge where it was draining & hoping for the best i opened up the cheesecloth
& found it soft but firm. So far so good. Gave it a taste test. As i've not tried Labne before i'm hoping it was as it should taste. I can see why my research on Labne has a few mentions of using it in place of Philly cream cheese but i doubt i would do so. I wasn't sure what i wanted to do with the cheese so i decided to do what Fast Ed did with his.
Not easy to shape soft cheese into balls. They are marinating in olive oil, peppercorns, lemon zest & fresh rosemary. The cheese must taste ok as i gave my son a taste test last night & he was trying to sneak the whole container home with him. Sorry only the pea & ham soup for you my dear.

A while ago on Facebook i entered a pincushion swap. The pincushion that was sent to me arrived last Friday.
My partner also sent me the little chooky she made.

How time flies !!!!

I heard from my Winter Wonderland swap partner last week that her parcel had arrived. These are 2 of the things i sent.
A wallhanging from Kaaran's First Friday Freebies. The other is a mug rug with an embroidered snowman.
I was recently inspired to drag out a kit i've had for quite a number of years & trace it out. This is the kit
No problems you say? Well it is a tad had to trace when this happens
Bella thought i'd turned the light box on for her to sleep on. :) But i did manage to get it all traced.
Meanwhile i've been working on this
& this,
Last weekend was our annual retreat. As usual the food was to rave about & the company fun & fabulous. Thanks ladies for the great weekend. Took the camera but was to lazy to take photo's. :( I did work on this
but discovered a little problem with the iron on bits so all i could do was sew the pieces together for the bag. Next i added the borders to Michelle's stitchery which i'd finished last week.
It just needs the backing & binding now. I made a bag whilst out there. Love the size of it.
Made from charm squares & it's huge.

A while ago on Better Homes & Gardens Fast Ed made Labne Cheese. Today i have finally gotten around to trying it out.
Just 3 ingredients into the bowl.
All whisked together & into the fridge for 1/2 an hour.
Ready to hang to drain overnight. Now i'm off to make Limoncello & a nice batch of Pea & Ham soup in the slow cooker.
