I finished the celtic Christmas tree last night. I've seen them with crystals added so i may do that before framing it.
Now i need a new project to stitch at night. :)Happy Stitching

......... onto a new project. But first is my little angel thingie which was also a freebie kit. I made it up before starting Santa. This was also a fun & games thing. I thought i'd achieved getting it into shape quite well but it had a slight accident when i was Christmas decorating.
I have this Santa cross stitch given as a freebie last year i think. Last weekend i made a start, zooming along real well i thought. I'd started in one area & wanted to continue using that colour so i counted carefully several times, or so i thought, the number of squares & merrily went on my way stitching. Bugger those areas didn't match. Unpick that first area & hope for the best again. Nope went to add another colour & Something not right still. About this time i was seriously considering binning the darn thing. It's not like this was my first cross stitch either. :)
So for FNwF hosted by Cheryll i was determined to get it done. I'd stitched quite a bit when i thought i should take a photo to post on Facebook FNwF. :)
Almost done
just a few stitches where the green thread is & then it is onto the black outlines.
I'd been worried my desert roses had carked it as they were taking a long time to get their leaves back. They'd all been nicely repotted & the stems weren't showing any die off so i couldn't figure what was wrong. Finally after weeks & weeks success leaves were appearing. I've been keeping a close eye for flowers but only 1 has flowered so far(i have 4 desert roses)
it has lots of blooms on it this year. This was the only open one. Cross fingers the other get flowers too. :)Thursday evening i traced out a Christmas stitchery to do
and made a start. Friday for FNSI i stitched some moreRecently i noticed a flower spike shooting up out of a bulb & thought it was a late flowering hippeastrum but to my surprise it turned out to be a spider lilyi was a wee bit excited to see it as it hasn't flowered in years & i thought i'd lost it.Although i'm enjoying sewing the little hexie project i felt i needed a break to do something else. :)
The hexies so far. Fabric on left is for the next round.Yesterday i laid out the Patchwork of the Crosses blocks to see how they look & to take a photo. A bit hard when there is so many blocks & a photobomber. This one was the best of all i took. :)
Now to start prepping all those squares to join the blocks together. :)I started FNwF early as i was determined to get the 56th(& last) block of Lucy done. I started here
& it's finished. I may have started a new project. :) :)Called Mrs Holder's Hexagons. I spotted it recently on Instagram & looked it up to find out it was a project from Temecula quilt company back in 2016. It's done in a concentric circle pattern & i'm using 1/2" hexies to make it.This is the picture of it from Temecula quilt Company blog.I had this little stitchery to finish so i started with that for FNSI.
Satin stitch all donei moved onto starting another Lucy blockI noticed a stalk coming up from some potted bulbs & was happy to see a Jacobean lily bloom. i missed it last time as there was some gooseberry bushes covering it.One of Mum's cactus has also burst into bloomThanks Wendy for hosting. Pop over here to see who joined inFor FNSI it was another Lucy block. Adding the white surrounds. This is where i was at Thursday night.
I remembered i needed to dig out some more white & cream fabrics to make up more & to have a bit more variety. That done back to stitchingi had gotten this far when i kept nodding off so to bed for an early night i went. :)I have the last 13 blocks prepped & have slowly been making them up.
EPP was the project for me for FNwF yesterday hosted by Cheryll. I had completed a Lucy block on Thursday & started to add the white surrounds. That was completed last night.
Another Lucy startedOne of the orchids i inherited has flowered. I have been watching it for weeks waiting for all those buds to burst into bloom. I was out putting the stuff in the bin when i noticed one had opened but by the time i went out later to take a photo quite a lot had burst open. Now the whole lot are open.I had the GS over for a few days last weekend & he mentioned he hadn't been on a train ride. I'd been wanting to go to Bunnings so off we went to buy a few things. He was happy he had his train ride even if is was a very short one. Just one station along. :)Marbles are the blocks for this weeks scrappy sew along. Nice simple blocks but effective. Happy Stitching,
