busy, busy, busy

I have been busy embroidering & sewing. Finished of my Easter swap & it's now winging its way to ????? . I can't wait to see what my swap partner send me. Can't show you mine until it arrives safe & sound. However i can show you my finished wonky house block. Also my next bit of china. I was eying this off at a shop in Ipswich. Next time i went in thought i'd missed out but the owner had moved it to another spot. Must buy i decided before i do miss out & guess what? he even gave me a discount. Am busy finising of a sewing bag kit i bought about 10 years ago. No i didn't start it then it was put away. Just one more item to go.

What i won last week

Here is the pattern i won last week from Carole. A lovely Santa pattern with the fabrics to make all 3. Just in time for my Christmas swap. Maybe. :) Carole is having some more giveaways so drop over & check out what she is going to offer for week 3.

Another Finish & My New China Teaset

Bags take 2. You may be thinking that i'd enjoyed making May Britt's bag pattern so much that i made a 2nd one. Well normally you'd be right. But unfortunately before i could give my SIL her present it met with a slight accident. I would've made mine in my favourite purples not red. The other photo is my fine bone china teaset which i finally got today. Luckily for it's a complete set as some of the others i looked at had pieces missing.

What I've Been Doing & a 1st Finish For March

Here is my 1st finish for March. I was trying to decide what to make my SIL for her birthday when i decided to make this bag from the angel swap last year. My redwork embroidery from the basket bom(see sidebar). Just love redwork.

The next stitchery in Gail Pans lovely Christmas Wish bom (see sidebar). I really enjoy making this & can't wait to see the finshed hanging .

And lastly the applique version of the basket bom. I didn't get this started straight away for some reason. When i decided to get going my spare room where my fabrics are was occupied. Until lunchtime mind you. Finally could choose the fabrics & half way through realised i had chosen yellow fabrics when Shamrocks should be green. Was going to leave it but the next day got up & decided "green". But guess what the room was occupied again by the same late sleeper. After i prepared the green leaves i sat down to sew. Well i was beginning to think i shouldn't be making this block as the rabbit was facing the wrong way. After a moment of puzzlement realised i had forgotten to reverse the pattern when tracing the template. All done now thankfully.

2 lovely patterns arrived in the mail today for me. Can’t wait to make them both.  They are both so cute. Who could resist the pandas in the quilt & the lovely baskets for Easter. Jeanette

material shopping

I finally got to go on a fabric shopping excursion today though it is still so darn hot. First off we went to The Country Quilt Co. I'd bought the Garden Of Life stitchery pattern last year at the shop but not the fabrics. So this is what i chose today to do the wall hanging in. Should look lovely in the green & orange tones with the linen look piece for the stitcheries. 2nd stop was supposed to be the new Spotlight. It opened supposedly a week & half ago. Well i can tell you it did not & neither my SIL or i had seen any advertisement to say there was a delay in opening. We weren't impresseed after driving over to West Ipswich battling the traffic in the new road works only to discover it a waste of time. Next stop then was Bargain Box. I bought the burgundy/cream reverse fabrics for Bea's "quilters blessings" BOM from last year. The 4 florals are for Verandah Views BOM. Haven't bought the other border fabric or the binding yet. Just realised didn't buy the binding for the Garden Of Life either. Oh well means another fabric shopping excursion. Who knows maybe Spotlight will be open this time.

Covers & Stitchery

Here's a better photo of my binder cover. Actually covering the binder. :). Finished the 1st stitchery from Jenny. Called wonky houses( see side bar for link). Very cute. Didn't go fabric shopping yesterday for the border fabric for Verandah Views BOM. (see side bar for link). Just to hot here in sunny Queensland. Thought maybe today but it's overcast & just as hot.

2 of my favourite things.

I'd been wanting to make something with fresh passionfruit for a while. I was wondering if my brother had any on his vine then a couple of days later over he pops with 4 passionfruit. Out came the recipe books. Decided on a passionfruit slice. Then made some peanut butter biscuits. The other cake in the picture is called a gingercake. With lemon icing. Courtesy of the House Elf . No i didn't eat it all it was a share plate. This is what i embroidered yesterday. Cheryl's latest addition to her BOM. Isn't it cute. I embroidered around cleaning, nagging kids, making tea - great things those slow cookers & mowing. Now to go fabric shopping. :)
