Friday Night with Friends January

I had planned to start early on a longstanding UFO(it will have to wait for another day) but I had a chance to head into northern NSW to see my Mum so I took it. I haven't been able to get down since before she was surrounded by fires & we couldn't get through with the main road being blocked off at the time.

Oh the devastation along the border trail/ranges was terrible. Even now weeks after the fires are out you can still smell the smoke. But on a slightly positive note the little bit of rain around Christmas day has started some greening up around the burnt out areas.

So did I get any stitching done you ask & if so what did i stitch ?

I had sewn the leaves down on this little table mat but when I went to add the vine some of the outside leaves were positioned wrong. I removed them & restitched down.

I just needed to add the backing to it now& this kit I bought many years ago will be done.

After that I started the embroidery on this cute little pincushion.

Pop over to visit Cheryll to find the links to who joined in last night& the projects they worked on.

Happy Stitching,

What a cute wee project.
It's good to read some good news about the fires, regrowth sound good.

You made good use of your evening. It's nice to have some bonus stitching completed. Isn't the Aussie bush incredible how it bounces back. Here's hoping for more rain to really help it along.

Glad to hear you were able to visit your mum - so much sad news coming from Australia but nice to hear some areas may be on the way to recovery already. Lovely stitching - a shame you had to unpick some leaves but the result is well worth it. Cute little new project!

Glad you could visit your mum and that the area is beginning to green up. The table mat is sweet and the pincushion is going to be lovely.

Hope that all is well with the region where your mum lives - these bushfires seem endless. Very nice stitching, too.

I'm glad you could finally visit your mother, but I'm so sorry to know about the devastating fires that have rolled across Australia. It's heart-breaking to see on television. I am aware of all the sewing efforts being made to take care of all the wildlife. That's great! Your floral appliqué is very pretty, and I'm happy for you to be embroidering again. It's wonderful to have handwork, isn't it?
