FNwF July.....

and just like that 6 months has gone by & here we are having Julys FNwF hosted by our lovely Cheryll  I'm afraid to blink in case it's turned into December when i open my eyes back up. :) :).

Recently Lisa of Fig N Berry creations asked on her FB page if anyone was interested in a Christmas Club. Of course i signed up straight away. lol. First instalment sent out July 1st.  I should be working on getting those ufo's under control but i couldn't resist starting.

Where i was up to at the start of stitching last night.

and where i had gotten to by bedtime. The project came with border fabric so it can be turned into a hanging without having to wait on the next stitcheries to complete it.

RSC July

I think (but i don't want to jinx it) that my sewjo has come back as i sat done after lunch today & got on with sewing the blocks for the rainbow scrap challenge.

I wasn't sure if i'd manage it actually as i'm suffering from a mysterious pain in my right side which makes it hard to do things. But i persevered with a bit of hissing when i didn't watch my movements carefully.

Now to hopefully move onto the next projects/s on my list.

RSC June

Just scraping in with June RSC. Although the colour was change to pastel blue  & green i went with the dark & light blue fabrics originally suggested. That way i have 6 darks & 6 lights.

Now onto making red for July

Tiny Tumblers

The tiny tumbler have all been sewn together.

I still need to trim the side edges & now i'm tossing up whether to bind as is or add a border to make the doll quilt a little bigger. I'll see.

To those who asked i didn't find the missing 2 templates. I pulled apart my sewing trolley that sits beside my chair, the basket of scraps, checked under my chair & around the desktop as they were the only places i had the templates. My conclusion is 1) the packet only had 218 in it or 2) they disappeared into thin air never to be seen again. :) :)

FNSI June

Yesterday was FNSI for June hosted by Wendy. How did it get to be June already? Anyway moving along sewing hasn't been featuring much in my life of late except to buy a pattern book. :)

I'm still stitching my mini tumblers. The other night i divided what was left up into piles of 16. Hmm seems i'm short an extra 2. Either my packet of 220 only had 218 or i lost 2 somewhere. They could be in the basket of repro scraps when the bag tipped over & i didn't notice them. Cross fingers they are in there.

I stitched 3 rows last night. I have one more to go of the 14 rows but will need to start sewing rows to each other now to get the last 6 templates i need to make that row up.

Now to get the scrap basket out again to not only choose fabrics but to see if the 2 missing templates are in there.

FNwF June

I had wanted to make an early start yesterday for FNwF hosted by Cheryll but i have a cold & really didn't feel like doing anything. :(

About lunchtime even though i was still feeling blurgh I thought i'd make an effort. Maybe i should've left well alone as in making a 12" nine patch block i inadvertently miscalculated & it turned out 9' block instead. lol. Maths never was my strong point. lol.

I had to quickly look through my B&C scraps again as i realised what i had picked out wasn't going to be quite enough to make 4 x nine patch blocks.

The 5 blocks that i liked from the quilt aid project from many years ago & are quite busy & bright making it hard for me to decide on filler blocks & what they would be. I did consider a border but have decided to just quilt the top & bind it.

The evening saw me stitching the moth 3 blocks for Owl & Hare Hollow bom.

I had planned on going to be early but ended up watching Hidden Figures. :) So i got a little further along with the stitching than i expected.

Now i'm off to rummage through my blue fabrics for this months RSC.

Zooming .....

.... along with the Chook Shed Stitchers to celebrate Chookyblue's Chookshed 11th birthday. It was a lovely day chatting & stitching along with ladies from all over the world.

My project was to stitch the tumblers together. A little quilt popped up on Instagram on Friday & i asked the lady how many tumblers she used. 224 for hers so i'm 4 short. She said hers was 16 tumblers in 14 rows. Perfect for what i was hoping to make.

I managed 4 rows whilst chatting

I had already made a row & started on a 6th when i signed off Zoom for the night.

It shouldn't take me to long to make the other 8 up. :)

Tumblers.

Recently i've been seeing tumbler quilts made from small tumblers. A few years back in order to finish my coffin quilt with a straight edge in case i add borders i ordered a bag of tumblers. Little did i realise until they arrived that they were the wrong size. :(

I've been throwing my scraps of reproduction fabrics in a little plastic box for future use. Fast forward to last night & this is what i got up to. :)

There is 220 1 inch tumblers. I'll cover them all & then decide what to make. Most likely a doll quilt.

FNSI May

As yesterday was a sew in day hosted by Wendy it seemed a good time to finally put the binding on 2 quilts i'd recently sent to Fiona to work her quilting magic on.

1st quilt was Hannah & Harrington. It was a free pattern from Michelle of The Raspberry Rabbits many years back. I'm so happy i's finally a finish. Watching Godzilla in the afternoon saw the binding hand stitched down.

I gave it a wash this morning because when i was rinsing my tracing pen out of a couple of the blocks the red felt ran. The colour catchers did catch some colours but some of the red is there to stay in the fabric. Oh well i'll live with it. :)

Next quilt was a bom several years back. The pattern was Round We Go by Sue Daley. All EPP then appliqued onto background squares. I'd initially been going to get it in the usual types of fabrics until i saw a store offering it in Halloween fabrics.
I can't remember what i watched after Godzilla but i started hand sewing the binding down then took a break about 7 pm for shower & dinner, watched BH&G followed by Moving to the Country but at 10 pm i called it quits with about a 1/4 left to sew as i had a raging headache which i didn't want to turn into migraine.

Yay 2 more finishes off my UFO pile. Umteen dozen to go. :) :) lol. and trying hard not to add any as i reduce the pile.

I prepared bindings for 2 recently quilted quilts.

Then in the evening i started on this stitchery

Rainbow Scrap Challenge May

Oh is for orange & apparently i have very little orange fabric. I was really scraping the bottom of the barrel to find enough for 12 blocks. 2 blocks are actually leftover scraps from my Halloween quilt. There was just enough in one piece for a bow tie block & enough in the other for a churn dash with a small scrap over. :). I forgot i still had some of the African print stashed away so that was a lucky find to add into the Churn Dash blocks.

Last night i finished this embroidery. The pattern was just the stitchery no finishing instructions.
It will be a wallhanging. I just need to work out what i want to do with the borders.

Happy Stitching,

National Jelly Roll Day.
